I'm not sure whether to classify this as fluffy or edgy so, you decide. Also it's real short but I enjoyed writing it.

(Using human names)

Sweden- Berwald

Finland- Tino

(Ladonia and Sealand are there, but they're in bed, so I don't need to write names down for them... because I have no clue what I would call Ladonia so leave me some name suggestions!)

Enjoy!

It was 12:30, and everyone in the house was in bed asleep.

Except Berwald of course.

He'd been up late the past few nights finishing paperwork for the world meeting coming up, and no matter how his husband Tino begged him to sleep, he was determined to finish it tonight. His plan was that if he got it done early he could spend the rest of the week snuggled up with the love of his life or spending time with their two children, not sitting at a desk yawning over paperwork. He thought about walking Hanatamago with his husband, and walking down to the nearby park with his kids. It felt like it had been so long since they'd done anything as a family.

These pleasant thoughts were soon interrupted by a loud scream. Not the kind of scream you'd hear from a child falling out of a bed in the middle of the night no no, Berwald knew that sound well, this was the kind of horror movie scream that puts you on edge and sends chills up your spine. The kind of scream that would make Berwald jump before racing to the room he shared with his husband. He quickly but quietly opened the door to see Tino, knees to his chest and shaking as if he'd just seen death itself.

"Tino?" He said quietly as he walked over to sit on the edge of the bed.

The smaller man looked up for only a second before throwing his arms tightly around the other, tears in his eyes and chest heaving from hyperventilation. Berwald hushed Tino, slowly rubbing his back in an attempt to calm him down. He wanted to ask what happened, but feared making it worse. They sat, arms around each other for some time before Berwald decided he needed to know what was wrong.

"What happ'nd?" He said quietly, his accent making him harder to understand.

"I- I had another nightmare..." Tino said, almost embarrassed at how childish he must seem to his calm and stoic husband.

Lately Tino had been having recurring nightmares. They all started out the same, a normal day with him and his family, Berwald would be sitting in the living room telling stories to their two boys while he watched from the kitchen. A perfect, blissful scene. Though these pleasant seeming scenes all tended to end in massacre, some worse than others. Some dreams would end in injuries and near escapes from death, while others, like the one he had tonight, would end in tears and his husbands lifeless body graphically strewn across the living room floor. The latter always ended in Tino waking in a panic, usually able to do so without causing a ruckus and alerting his husband, and never waking the kids.

Berwald held Tino closer

"Ya 'k now... I'm right h're" Berwald whispered to the still shaking ball of tears.

Berwald always knew how to calm Tino down. He'd never say things like "it's just a nightmare" and make Tino feel stupid and childish, he always took him seriously and he was very grateful for that. Usually he'd slip some horrible dad joke or piece of nerdy humor into serious sounding conversations to lighten the mood or make Tino laugh. Tino seemed to be the only person in the world with the same horrible sense of humour as Berwald, hence why they were meant for each other. The vivid nightmare began to fade away, only to be replaced by a gentle blush on Tino's cheeks. What did he ever do to deserve a man like Berwald.

They sat, still holding each other for a few more moments before Tino loosened his grip around his husbands waist. He leant up to give him a gentle kiss before leaning backwards onto the large bed.

"Wh't was th't f'r?" Berwald asked his husband, lying down beside him on the bed.

"It was a thank you" Tino began, snuggling up next to his husband. "for being amazing and putting up with me and my emotional baggage" he meant it in the most sarcastic way possible, and Berwald has come to expect this.

"Anyt'me" Berwald said cuddling up next to his husband with heavy eyelids, his long forgotten paperwork would have to wait till tomorrow.

"I love you Ber..."

"I lov' ya too Tino"
