Hope's Return

Revelations

The ride to the Fire Hall passed quickly with conversation.  Cody has so many questions that he almost missed their turn off. The brick face was almost comforting in appearance. 

Cody pushed a button to open the garage doors and she found herself in a large open space. They both looked up as a police car pulled in behind them.

This time an older man stepped out and she watched Cody run to him in greeting. The police car transformed and stared down at her, optics shielded with a visor.

"Chief Burns, there is an unknown person in the vicinity." His voice was robotic in tone.

"It's okay Chase, she knows about the Autobots."

Cody was quickly pulled aside by his father and the police bot moved in front of them protectively.

"Are you sure about this son?"

"Dad, she identified Servo as a Cybertronian rescue dog and I had Graham check her out in the military base files."

At this the police bot relaxed his stature and moved aside.

"I apologize Ms...?"

"Hope. Hope Pax."

"Ms. Pax, welcome to our home. I'm Chief Charlie Burns and this is my rescue partner Chase. It appears that you've met two of my sons already."

"Three actually. I briefly met Kade though he seemed more inclined to flirt."

"That does sound like Kade."

Hope smiled up at Chase in acknowledgement.

"I do have a daughter as well."

"Does she fly a helicopter by chance?"

Chief Burns looked surprised but nodded.

"Yes, have you met Dani already?"

"Not exactly, we ran into each other but she was to busy with other matters to chat."

Mostly keeping control of her partner, she thought in amusement.

The conversation was interrupted by loud voices below. They seemed to be arguing about some new creature one of them had encountered.

As she listened, Hope could make out a voice more high pitched then the others, and realized it was the bot she had encountered this morning.  Looks like things were going to get interesting very quickly.

The elevator doors opened and three humans stepped out, still bickering loudly. Kade was the first to notice Hope and with a flirty smirk, walked up to her. Before he could even try, she stopped him with a raised hand.

"Hello...Kade I believe? And you must be Graham and Dani. I'm Hope Pax. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Hope used to work with the Autobots many years ago and asked to meet our partners."

"It's true, I could tell you stories about the bots that would entertain you for days."

"Perhaps Ms. Hope could offer you some advice on whatever you're quarreling about?"

The three looked at each other before starting to talk all at once. The chief finally broke into the conversation.

"Alright hold up, let's get the rest of the bots in on this. Together we'll figure this out." Pressing a digit to the intercom, he spoke. "Rescue team, family meeting upstairs."

The floor underneath them rumbled as it slid back and a conveyor rose up to the 2nd level bringing three more mechs with it. As the platform clicked into place, they noticed Hope and stiffened into a robotic stance.
