"about time you arrive, park jimin," his mother says sternly as he walks through the door, hands on her hips. "what do you think you were doing out this late?"
jimin sighs, putting his backpack down. "waiting for someone i knew wasn't going to show up."
his mother's face softens, and she sighs. she walks over toward her son and engulfs him in a hug. she slightly pulls away, stroking his pink hair softly after she presses a soft kiss on it.
"look, if that boy is just wasting your time, leave him," she advises. "no one gets to hurt my son. especially if i don't allow it."
jimin fakes a smile, looking at his mom. "thanks, mom."
the female nods, kissing his head once again. "if you need anything, i'm here."
"i know." jimin's smile softens a bit, and he walks upstairs to his room. he closes the door behind him, making sure to lock it before he flops down on his bed on his stomach, his face engulfed in his pillow as he starts to cry, his sobs muffled by the pillows.
--
about nine hours later, it is 4:08 in the morning, and jimin is woken up when he hears his phone ding—perks of being a light sleeper.
jimin groans as he rubs his eyes, trying to rub the sleepiness out of them. he grabs his phone and sees messages from yoongi. jimin so badly wants to ignore it and try to go back to sleep, but he knows his heart won't let him, so he unlocks his phone, and checks the message yoongi sent him:
