we are the ants

“depression isn’t a war you win. it’s a battle you fight every day. you never get to stop, never get to rest. it’s one bloody fray after another.”  - shaun david hutchinson

this book revolves around the idea of depression, a serious problem faced by many. depression isn't a phase that gets over within weeks or months, it's a battle which many of us are fighting and a battle which jin, the protagonist of this book was fighting. he had many dreams to be a kpop idol and he thought he could handle the miseries and struggles that came with it. every chapter shows different phases of his depression until he finally decides to give up leaving us a goodbye note.

kpop idols face so many struggles, they have strict diets, routine practices, they stay away from their family and sometimes they take so long to debut that they loose hope. jin, in this book, didn't disclose his problems with the members or the staff or with his family which led to more bottled up emotions and frustrations, which then led to suicide. there have been so many idols who have committed suicides and it's really sad that such pure souls left us.

many of us are victims of depression. the feeling of numbness, worthlessness, helplessness, it can be harsh but know that someone loves you, your family, your friends, your pets! live for them. let it out, whatever is inside of you release it. scream, yell, release, it helps. you're not a burden and you never will be because you were born for a reason, search for that reason and live for that reason. so until then; stay awake, when it's time, nature will put you to sleep. you don't need to force yourself to go to sleep. happy times will come soon, just hang onto hope for a little while longer.

thank you for reading lovelies ♡ ♡
