27 club
___________

The sun shown low over the lake, revealing a beautiful reflection over the clear water.

Christian sat on the thick blocks of wood with he use to call him 'homemade dock', with a cigarette placed between two fingers, smoking hovering about the burning red ash at the other end of the cancer stick, evaporating into the air.

The flies and mosquitoes happened to not be as bad as the past few nights Christian had seemed to spend down the lake. A safe place he liked to call for himself.

Looking down at the white guitar sitting next to him, Christian placed the cigarette between his lips, sucking in a the smoke and letting it rest in his chest as he began to strum a few cords.

"Practicing for te telling show in a couple of months, C?" A soft voice as him as they fell down beside him. There was only one person who had seemed to only ever call him C, and that was his younger sister Devon.

Devon had short almost platinum blonde hair with streaks of several different colours appearing in random places. Her body was slim and and small, her skin was pale compared to Christian and seemed to be at least a foot shorter.

"You getting better." Instead of replying, Christian nodded and continued to strum the cords he had been trying to memorise the past couple of nights.

Devon looked over at her older brother, cigarette still burning in his lips. Her hand movers quickly and that's what left of the cancer stock from him and has the rest.

"Mum's gunna kill you if she smells it on you." Christian mumbles breaking the silence between the two.

"And she is going to kill you for lying to her." Devon shit back. "And she'll know you haven't bothered to quit yet because she will smell smoke on me." She did have a point though. "So I guess we're both not joining the 27 club then, are we?"

The 27 club was something that both Christian and Devon had been interested in, some of the few things that the the two had bonded over.

Christian had gotten Devon into his music and Devon had gotten Christian into decent fashion and all her books.

"I've learnt the cords to smells like teen spirit." Christian smiled as he started to strum the cords.

"Kurt would hate me if he was still alive." Devon chuckled referring to the fact that Kurt had once said that he disliked the song. "I still think Courtney shot him."

"And yet this is why your failing all your classes. Summer school tosser." Christian snorted. This was something that the two would playfully argue over. Did Courtney love kill Kurt? Or did she not? "Jesse is coming to pick me up later, we are going to the park to smoke, wanna join?" Christian asked his sister.

Devon nodded at her brother. "Call out when he is here I have to change into something warmer."

Christian, Devon, Jesse and the two cave brothers sat in a circle passing a blunt around as well as a large jumbo bottle of strawberry hill. The low sound of the $uicideboy$ plying in the background from the shitty speakers in Jesse's car.

The bottom had now been passed the Christian. The blonde took a long dog of the booze, letting the alcohol slowly trickle down his throat.

"Wow there kras, you have school tomorrow." Jesse chuckled as her took the bottle of Christian passing it to Mitchel.

"Did you know that back in the old days when a witch betrayed her covenant the other witches would kill her." Devon perked up.

"Dev, that's like the 100th witch related shit you have told us. I don't know about you but I'm definitely not drunk enough for your witch shit." Jesse mumbled snatching the bottle of Jesse taking a large sig.

"That's because you a lazy drunk whose father kicked him out of school for being a fuck up." Dev mumbles under her breath.

"Anyway, How was school?" Clinton piped in tryna stop an argument that was bond to happen between Jesse's and Devon.

Devon started first, "Yeah, shit like usually. Freaked out short course career teacher when I told her that I hoped to be dead by 27."

"You want to join the 27 club?" Clinton asked the young girl next to him, surprised by what she had said.

"Yup," she replied putting emphasis on the P. "Christian and I are both joining the club, hence the white lights you catch us carrying."

"Yeah," Christian mumbles pulling the white lighter out of his pocket. "Dev And I have both planned to overdose on herion after her 27 birthday so that way we both leave together."

"But won't you be like 28 then," Mitchel asked trying to figure out how it would work for the two siblings.

"Christian is like nine months older then me so after he turns 27 we only have to wait a few months until I turn 27 hence my birthday is before his and he will still be 27." Devon explained to her young boy sitting across from her.

Christian sat back and drowned out the loud talking and looked over at Mitchel who had sat there quietly most of the night.

Nudging the boys should with his elbow, Christian whispered something to Mitchel and the boy nodded.

"Well be back later." Christian said as he waved by to the group. "Text me when y'all are about to leave and we will come back." The blonde shouted as the two left.

"Don't leave them with tosser and cave!" He could hear Devon shout from in the distance.

Now all the Christian could focus on was the sound of the crickets and the small breathing coming from Mitchel.

"Want a cigarette?" Christian asked the quiet boy next to him.

Mitchel nodded grabbing a ciggie out of the pack in Christians hand, letting the blonde use his white lighter to light the stock up for him.
