Art class. It's always been my favorite class. Drawing, painting, all of it. Lauren is the same way, which is why having art class together is so great.
We have been taking art since freshman year. The art teacher, Mrs. Newman is easily our favorite.Lauren and I choose our seats and the bell rings.
"Hello class and welcome to art! And welcome back to those of you who have had my class before!" Mrs. Newman says. "My name is Mrs. Newman. Now, for my new students, lets go over class rules and what materials you will need. For my seniors, you can go ahead and pick what you want to work on. It has to be art related of course."
"What are you going to do this year? Painting or drawing?" Lauren asks me.
"I want to do acrylic painting again."
"Me too! Lets go get our stuff."
Lauren and I get our canvases, paint brushes, cups of water, paper towels, and paint.
I decide that I am going to paint a landscape. Maybe a waterfall or a mountain, I'm not sure. I am just going to wing it and see what I come up with.
It is now lunch. Lauren and I find an empty table.
As soon as we sit down, Lauren lets out a "oh!"
"I have something to tell you!"
"Spill." I say as I open my water bottle.
"So, the new boy is in my second period and I sat beside him."
"He has a name." I say with a giggle.
"Yeah but calling him the new kid is funner."
I giggle.
"But anyways.." she starts.
"Oh boy." I say with a sigh. I think I know what she is about to say.
"Michael is from New Jersey. He is really nice and you won't believe what else!"
"What else?" I say pretending to be intrigued.
"He is shy too!"
"And I am supposed to care because?"
"Because you two would be a cute couple!" She says excitedly.
"Laur. No."
"Abby! Yes!"
"Maybe I don't want a boyfriend right now."
"Abby. You literally complain about being single all the time."
"Yeah but I don't want a boyfriend right now."
"You are so complicated."
"I know." I say with a giggle.
Lauren giggles and rolls her eyes at me.
"Anything interesting happen to you?" She asks.
The only thing that I can think of is Ethan talking to me in third period. She will definitely like it too much and try to persuade me that I should date him.
"Nope."
"Oh." She says disappointed.
I look around the cafeteria at all the people sitting with their clans. The popular girls, sports players, nerds, and weirdos. I notice someone get up from the sports table. Ethan. Of course. I have a feeling I am going to be trying to avoid him all year.
It is finally the end of the day and I can go home. I get on my bus, find an empty seat, and put my headphones in and ignore everyone else. The kids on this bus are so loud and annoying. Especially the little ones that like to scream.
If only my mom or I had enough money to buy me a car so I could drive to and from school. I currently work at a local coffee shop to save up for one and it's not fun. At all. I don't even like coffee. My coworkers are either a brat or dumb. But it pays pretty well.
I get off the bus and walk inside my house.
"Hey mom!"
"Hey honey! How was your first day back to school?"
"Alright." I say as I make my way to my room to lay my stuff down.
"I made spaghetti!" My mom tells me.
"Oh yay!" I say excitedly before jogging to the kitchen.
I finish eating and go to my room to change into my work uniform.
Lucky for me, the coffee shop is not far away from my house so I walk there. Its takes me about ten minutes to get there.
I arrive at the shop and immediately get to work.
