Loosening his tie, Faris leaned back, placing an arm on the back of the sofa. Donna was seated at his side, sipping from a glass of white wine, her feet curled up at her side, hair down, cascading down her back that he reached up and touched.
"I prefer your hair like this than that tight ponytail."
She eyed him sideways. "I was going for the professional look."
"You were professional, without the ponytail." He lifted it and twisted it around his finger brought it up and breathed in. "You smell of apples." That was so different from her usual wildflower fragrance, yet still so Donna.
She gave a smile. "Blame the free samples."
"And you're too far away," he noted. She snuggled in without a hesitation that pleased him. Releasing her hair, he rested his arm around her shoulder instead which felt so right. "Enter," he called at a knock at the door. "Stay," he whispered when she began to shift away. Donna looked up, with concern that he didn't like.
He didn't want her to feel like this with him, glancing across as another couple entered. His sister and Caden, are all dressed up. He felt Donna shift closer towards him, sipping from the glass, while she kept her gaze down. His hand dropped to her back, caressing her waist, drawing her gaze towards him, giving her a reassuring smile before focusing on the couple before them.
"Going out I see." He glanced at Donna arching a questioning brow, she shook her head. "Good, I feel like staying in," his hold tightened guiding her closer and placing a kiss on her forehead. "Shall we dine in?" He whispered.
Her free hand rested on his leg, sending heat through him. "I would like that."
"Hopefully you will become more relaxed." She searched him out and gave him a weak smile. "You can leave if you want." She shook her head, taking another sip, yet still wouldn't look at the other couple, mainly because of his sister, he knew that.
Faris could understand her reluctance, after what they did to her, however, no matter what his family had done to her, Donna was at his side. She had come all this way because he wanted her at his side, wanting to reconnect. His gaze briefly rested on her lips, remembering that moment in Harrods, having this need to kiss her.
"You wanted to see me?" Came from Caden, snapping him out of that moment.
"Yes, please sit down." Faris waved them down, noticing how edgy his sister was. "We will talk later," he looked straight at Kareena, receiving a nod, then turned his attention towards Caden, who remained standing, as did Kareena. Ready to escape as soon as possible, by the look of things. A situation that would have to change. Not now, hopefully, the situation will be sorted when they get to Italy. "Have you found our mole yet?"
Donna's head shot up with interest. "Is that why you do all those profiles? You have a spy?" She asked while looking at Caden directly.
"More like espionage." Donna groaned shooting Faris a look, her hand tightened on his leg, reaching forward, she placed down her glass on the table, her mind going over the profiles she had done on the employees. She leaned towards Faris, who was watching her with interest; splaying his hand on her back, leaving an imprint, also warmed her.
"What is it, Donna?"
"You need to look into their finances, look for someone who is living beyond their means if they are selling off quotes. Surely they are doing it for the money." She rubbed her fingers together in a display. "Those profiles won't tell you anything," she turned back towards Caden. "I can narrow down a few names, from the company I worked for. I had been working there for four years from the bottom up. I do know a lot of people." Caden searched Faris out with his eyes.
