felix had shut off his alarm for the third time this morning. if he snoozes it one more time, he calculates he'll have 7 minutes to get up, dressed, and out the door before his bus comes. he also calculates that isn't gonna happen, so he decides to get out of bed now. spending all last night playing overwatch was not a good way to start the new school year.
he could hear his mum shouting at him from downstairs, but he couldn't register the words. he was still half asleep. his morning routine was usually marked in his brain, so didn't really have to think when getting ready, however, he hadn't done this for six weeks, and he caught himself  doing things like turning on the shower when he had already showered the night before, and brushing his teeth twice. felix was greeted by his school bag once he left the bathroom. behind the bag was his tired older sister, hair not brushed and makeup not done. felix was always telling her she didn't need makeup, but she didn't listen. she never does.
"good morning," felix says, taking the bag calmly.
no response.
felix laughed at his sister. the mood around the house was rushed, yet it felt like no one would really care if they were late. as felix was making his way out, the youngest of the house tugged at the hem of his shirt.
"don't forget about me," she says with wide eyes.
felix smiles. "never."
