felix chuckled at his phone as he walked, late, into class. he took the empty seat in front of minho and sat down, immediately regretting his decision. minho had began placing blank sticky notes all over felix's back. this was one of many of minho's little "pranks", most of them on felix. he chuckled softly at minho, half loving, half annoyed, before his thoughts were smacked out of his brain, literally. seungmin had walked past and whacked the two of them on the head and taken the seat in front of felix. he turned to face the two, sighing at them with mock disappointment. minho held a pink sticky note above felix's shoulder, as if to threaten seungmin, but he just laughs and turns to face the teacher who is standing at the front of the class.
felix's first lesson was long and boring, he spent the most of it playing league with chan, who was supposedly in history. the rest of the day passed by in a blur, the caffeine being the only thing keeping him going.
felix was collecting his books for the last lesson when he was interrupted by a still hyper minho slamming his locker door shut.
"you could've taken out my fingers," felix whined, rubbing his hand.
"you'll live," minho deadpanned, earning a slap from felix, which minho either ignored or couldn't feel because of all the caffeine in his system. "chan wants us to skip next lesson so he can show us something."
"pardon?"
minho took a long sigh and repeated the words, taking long pauses between each.
"ohhhhh, yeah i couldn't hear you the first time, you were talking like a maniac."
"i didn't even drink that much!" minho pouted. felix muttered a sarcastic 'sure' in response. "c'mon, he's waiting." without waiting for approval, minho dragged felix down the hall to the library, stopping at the janitor's closet.
"after you," minho bowed sarcastically. felix laughed and scampered to pull him up, shoving him into the closet.
seungmin was the first to speak. "alright mate, why'd you gather us here? i was gonna nap in social studies."
chan clapped his hands together enthusiastically. "well you can nap later, we've got pranks to plan."
"i thought you banned us from even knowing about your senior pranks." hyunjin chimed in. chan shushed him.
"it's a big one this year boys—"
"when have you done any pranks before this one?"
"—and if i could get through it without being interrupted that'd be great."
jisung sat up straight and clasped his hands together in his lap. no one spoke except chan after that.

turns out it was a big one.
chan had planned a series of pranks, all panning out throughout the rest of the year, each breaking one of the school's strict rules. felix's thoughts drifted to his copy of the rulebook, sitting at the bottom of his locker, covered in doodles. his thoughts continued to a specific rule in the book, rule #86, a rule amongst scribbles which had remained untouched, as though if he were to touch it it would shatter into a million pieces. felix stole a glance at minho, who was on his left, listening intently to chan, who was explaining how their fourth prank was his "best idea yet". felix noticed the shine in minho's eyes, his signature mischievous grin playing on his face, the one that made you feel like it was just you and him. the one that sent butterflies to felix's stomach, the one—.
"crap," felix muttered to himself. he had been caught staring. not by minho, but by jisung, which was notably worse. felix mentally cursed at himself again, not for getting caught, but for staring in the first place. he looked up at jisung, expecting to be silently teased, but he only saw a soft smile. felix broke eye contact and looked down at his hands, suddenly feeling shy. felix didn't know why his thoughts travelled to rule #86, and why he hoped so desperately that he and minho would be the ones breaking it.
the eight boys crawled out the janitor's closet before the end-of-day bell rang, one at a time with intervals as to not arouse suspicion. felix was the last to leave, carefully swinging the door shut, pocketing the key chan managed to snag when he was in detention. felix spun to face the hallway, where he spotted minho leaning against the wall next to his locker. he looked adrift is his own thoughts, the look in his eyes distant, until he made eye contact with felix and a small smirk played on his lips. he walked towards felix and reached for his tie, adjusting it. it was a small gesture, but it was one that sent tingles all throughout felix's body. he felt his cheeks growing hot and quickly cleared his throat to hide the embarrassment. he brushed minho's hands away and straightened up, hoping to God he had ridden his cheeks of the dusty red that had appeared moments before.
"d'you wanna walk home with me? we can get sushi."
felix felt awash with relief. minho hadn't mentioned anything about red cheeks, which meant he was in the clear. felix smiled at mino as a way of saying "yes" and quickly grabbed his bag from his locker.
the two hadn't even made out of school until minho spoke again.
y'know, your cheeks are kinda red."
