Kishinuma Yoshiki's P.O.V
I had utterly no idea why the Hell I did that, but it happened, and I wasn't gonna regret it.
I had just ran out the back door, closing it softly as voices of the others drifted in. Ignoring them, I slid down to the ground, resting my back against the smooth surface of the tiling on the wall. My head fell back, my eyes closing simultaneously. I could feel the bite of the autumn wind attacking my skin, and I inhaled deeply, taking it all in.
"Ah..."
My mind was foggy for a minute; cloudy. The world melted into a haze. I think I took in every detail; the leaves rustling in the breeze; the ground shifting as new weight hit it; the little sounds that no one would notice just on their normal rushed day.
I knew I could take all the time I needed, since I had a reputation for being late. The only thing I couldn't do was get caught. Well, I could, but who wanted to make an excuse for being at Satoshi's back door, sitting here, breathing and seeming like just wasting some time like it was mine to throw away? Not me, that's for sure. Besides, what would I say? "Oh, uh, yeah, I'm a batshit crazy stalker"?!
No thanks, not today.
Suddenly, the voices got louder.
"...where is he..." A girl. She sounded pissy. Shinozaki? Nakashima? Suzumoto? I doubt the latter, Suzumoto is always so nice and happy, and her voice is higher...granted I'm listening through two rooms, but still. My bets were on Nakashima.
"...always late..." I don't know about that one. It was too quiet.
"...cut some slack..." Brunette idiot? Brunette idiot.
With a grunt, I dragged myself up, trying not to hit my head on the windowsill I had sat under. For once, I didn't fuck up, and I was able to stumble away, further into the backyard. The grass crunched under my feet, dry and a tan brown. Typical fall changes. Nothing unusual.
I straightened my posture, glancing around for an exit to the backyard. The fence was tall, about six feet, and painted a snow white. Maybe a year ago, or something, this paint was slathered sloppily onto the wood. It was chipped and uneven, a job a little child could have done better. What a fantastic job. Not.
I spotted the gate, and it just had a simple string to pull to open it. Wouldn't that be a bit loud, though? Not to mention closing it all the way, and these fences, from my experience, had to be slammed hard.
I could just climb over them...
Yeah, let's just do that. The whole sneaking thing has been going pretty well, no ones noticed me yet so--
"Ah...Yoshiki..." I whipped around, a mad blush spreading on my face. My vision twisted a bit, before refocusing to see who was there. It was just...
...Satoshi?
"Wh-What the hell man..." I scowled, the heat withdrawing from my cheeks. Satoshi swallowed hard, flushed.
"They...they have...suspicions." He looked really embarrassed. Was it that bad to be kissed by a guy? Was it really that bad to be known as gay? That stung.
"Ehh...?" I cast aside the offence, and acted clueless. There was no need for him to feel bad.
"It might've just been a tease b-but...Shinozaki said maybe you weren't here because you're afraid of PDA..." He jumped away from something on the sidewalk. A bug. What a girl.
"It's probably just tease, don't worry your pretty little head over her crap." I advised. "And besides," With a nonchalant grin, I shoved my hands into my pockets. "I am afraid of PDA."
"...That makes two of us, then." Laughed Satoshi, trying to seem casual but the look of uncertainty in his eyes shattered that facade.
"Spit it out."
"A-Ah?"
"You aren't that hard to read, I know you have something on your mind, so spit it out. Don't got all day." It was true, they'd be out any minute...I think? I don't even know how he got out here alone.
"I don't have anything to talk about..." He lied through his teeth. Ladies and gentlemen, worst liar award goes to Mochida Satoshi!
"Stop lying. For fucks sake, Satoshi," I was trying to sound calm, and stay on the neutral sound of mad and angry, but that scale was teetering to the mad side. "if you ever want a stable relationship, don't lie. That's the worst thing to do."
"I'm not lying!"
"Bullshit."
"...Am I that bad of a liar?" He asked sheepishly. I nodded. "O-Oh...sorry..."
"So can ya tell me already or are you gonna keep lying?"
"It can wait--"
"No, you're gonna say it now." I interrupted, tensing angrily. I hated being lied to, and now that he's not gonna tell me? Gr...
He pointed to the door. "B-But they're waiting for us."
"Don't you mean waiting for you? They could care less if I came." I argued bluntly.
"That's not true!" That was a weak comeback. "They only came because it was your birthday...!!"
"And you know this how?"
"S-Shinozaki...told me..." I was tired of arguing, so I just gave up.
"Kay...fine. Never mind. Can you just tell me?" My voice was strained, annoyed.
"Fine..." Satoshi took a deep breath. "...U-Uhm...what was that all about?" Oh. That.
"I dunno."
"What." That wasn't even a question, that was just plain disbelief.
"I DUNNO!" I said louder, anger boiling up inside. I didn't want to be confronted about my actions right now, since to be honest, I had no fucking clue either.
"You're the one who did it...why don't you know?" He was starting to piss me off.
"I just don't, okay?!" In anger, I punched the tree next to me. Fuck...that hurt a lot. When I glanced up, I saw Satoshi trembling a little, looking like he was about to take off running... Did I...did I scare him a little? He did get bullied a lot, so it would be normal for him to recoil and turn defensive at an action at that...especially since I did beat people up before...
I immediately felt the angry outburst dissipate into nothing but a ghost of what was there. The stinging pain in my knuckles numbed, and the bloody scrapes were a detail forgotten. I walked towards the scared brunette who was staring at me, shaking quite a bit. Abruptly, I pulled him in a tight hug.
"...I would...never, ever hurt you," I said softly, closing my eyes, holding him close. He stopped trembling. "so don't you ever think I will. Okay?!"
There was no audible response, but I didn't care. I just held the smaller male close, taking in every little detail. After a few moments, his small arms wrapped around me.
...
"...Wanna go inside now?" Satoshi broke the awkward silence. I pulled away, and nodded. He gave a small, warm smile, his brunette eyes betraying the slightest relief.
"I'll go in the front." I turned around, opened up the gate, and softly pushed it shut, not waiting for him to respond or fight. I shoved my hands in my pockets nonchalantly.
-
It took about three minutes to get from the backyard to the front door, a three minute stall I was glad to waste. I stopped to knock, and waited.
Satoshi opened the door, grinning.
"He's here~!"
I smiled, and walked in past him. Everyone had a gift of some sorts, whether it be random change, a drawing, and even some manga.
And I had to admit, it didn't feel as awkward and lonely with Satoshi around...
So I could probably last through one birthday party...
For him.
~ THE END ~
Voila. Done. Yay.
