Mochida Satoshi's P.O.V

Yoshiki walked a few steps ahead of me after I wished him a happy birthday. He had just gave me a glare of disapproval. I sighed under my breath, hoping my face would cool down before I got into the school yard. No such luck for me, though. Today was just not my day...

First, I had broken up with Naomi this morning, and Suzumoto had overheard. Second, Yuka ran off without me, leaving me here all alone in the middle of the street. Now...Yoshiki was mad at me and I was blushing in front of many middle schoolers and high schoolers. I heard giggles around me, but they stopped as Yoshiki's death glare hit them.

Why was he mad at me, though? I took a guess that he didn't want to celebrate his birthday, and didn't want everybody to know. Nobody cared for him, really. Last year was when I noticed the pattern in the one day he was consistently not here, but no one else did. He was our friend...but no one noticed his absence. He was gone at lunches. We didn't talk about him.

Was I seriously the only one who gave a damn for the guy? He was so nice, too. Well, of you gave him a chance. He seems cold and rude, a typical delinquent, on the outside, but he really did care...for some of us, anyway.

I entered the school, trailing just behind Yoshiki. Everyone was just minding their own business, not even sparing me a glance. Hopefully no one would notice my blush. Hopefully.

As soon as I got to class 2-9, though, everyone was looking at me and whispering to each other. Had word got around I was blushing that fast? I brushed it off, though. No need to let it bother me any more than it already did.

I was already having a bad day, and on my best friend's birthday, too. School didn't start for another five minutes...maybe I could just rest my head...

Flashback...

"Oi, class rep, where's Kishinuma?" I ask, standing in front of her desk. I didn't know Kishinuna very well, but I knew he was having trouble in school and at home. I wanted to help him fit in more, instead of beating people up who made fun of him.

"I don't know where that troublemaker is. Probably on the roof. He skips and goes up there instead of the bathroom after I knocked some sense into him." Shinozaki was drawing manga, and was clearly busy and agitated. She wad erasing a part of the hair over and over again, not happy with how it turned out. She redrew it again, gave a frustrated sigh, and was about to erase it. I grabbed her wrist.

"Don't. Look at it. It's perfect." She flushes lightly at my comment, and looks down. She nods, puts her eraser down, and keeps drawing. "You're good at it. Don't stop."

With that, I left the dark haired occult girl to draw in peace to go look for Kishinuma. I wanted to maybe get him to sit with us. I practically ran down the hallway to where the roof was. The thing was...I didn't know where it was. Though, I was able to get directions from a teacher.

"Why do you need to go up there, anyways?" Mrs. Ito-sensei asked, raising her eyebrows.

"Uh...to get scenery for...an art painting. Yeah." I lied through my teeth. I hated lying, and I was terrible at it. But somehow Ms. Ito-sensei believed me.

"O...kay." She says, before turning to her classroom and closing the door behind her.

I was already long gone, speeding down the hallway to the roof stairs. Past classroom 2-5 and a left. Past classroom 2-5 and a left. I reminded myself in my head over and over again.

I passed by a classroom labelled 2-4. Almost there... I glanced down at my watch that I had got only a few days ago. It was two minutes until class started. Shit.
