After Nathan arrived home from a successful day of Pre-Kindergarten, Nana took him shopping.

He sat in the small seat of the shopping cart, playing with his new shoes.

"Nathan, which one do you like better?" Nana showed him two different color schemes of "I'm going to be a brother!' One white with a cartoon boy holding his baby brother, and the other one darker blue with a cartoon shark with a little shark.

"I like shawrks." He pointed, "they're big and scary."

She placed the one onesie and a cart and dragged along the aisle.

"So, are you proud you're going to be a big brother?"

"Big? Like dragons or shawrks?"

...

When Zane came home, he was exhausted from a bad day. It turns out that he worked at the Maid Café (as a bartender)- the one Gene now turned it into a nightclub, which makes Gene his boss. They've been going at each other's throats nearly every day. So, he was desperately in need to hear some good news.

Nana graciously took this chance.

She laid down on the couch besides him, Nathan sat in the middle of the floor in front of them, mindlessly sucking on his sippy cup filled with warm milk. You know, so he could go straight to bed instead of spending the night building pillow forts and listen to ridiculous stories..

"So Zane, I have a surprise for you.. something you might actually like," she smiled softly, hoping to cheer him up.

The male straighten back, interested at the black bag with pink sparkled wrapping paper stuffed inside.

"What is it?" He asked himself, starting to take out the pink wrapping paper. Nana remained silent, but couldn't hide her excitement when he found the two items she placed in there for him.

He took out a sheet of black and white paper, "...Wait.." he murmured. It looked like a ultra sound of a baby boy.

He laid it down next to him and took out the last present. A stick with 2 red lines.

His eyes darted to his giddy wife, "wait, Nana are you-"

"Pregnant? Yes!" Nana cheered, hugging him.

Nathan was pretty alerted by the situation and went to cuddle with the excited couple.

Nana let go of her grasp of Zane and scooped up her son's cheeks, "Nathan, you're going to be a good big brother!"

He squirmed out, "what does that mean?" he titled his head, facing Zane for an answer.

"Don't tell him. He'll find out in 9 months," Zane chuckled, ruffling his hair.

...

For most of the time, Zane and Nana tried to keep Nana's pregnancy as a secret, but Nathan decided he would began to brag about it to his new friends in Pre-K.

"My mom ordered me a baby brother," Nathan announced to his scribble group of 3-4 year olds.

"I have a little brother whose 2 years younger than me and hes a brat," one of his friends shared, "one time spitted his milk at me and it ruined my favorite dinosaur shirt."

"Really?" Another boy said, "I don't have a little brother, but I have a sister who does that too. She always take my action figures!"

The other boys started to share their cons of having a baby brother, while Nathan started to begin to think maybe having a brother wasn't a good thing. Maybe he could send it back and get a refund.
