Luke’s POV
Today is my first day of junior year. I would be at a completely different school with totally different people. Well, Calum is there so I am not totally alone. I’ve missed Calum. Yes, we call and text a lot but it’s not the same.
I had finally arrived and sure enough, this was the stereotypical high school. There were the jocks, the cheerleaders which weren’t too bad, sluts and whores, nerds, geeks, punks, and stoners. Everyone was in some group except for 2 people. Me (I will most likely be in Calum’s group anyways) and then there was another guy. He looked around my age, maybe a year younger. I only saw his face once but it was kind of cute. He just kept his head down and tugged at his sleeves. ‘Why the hell would he be wearing long sleeves in Australia!?’ I thought as I walked into the building.
Apparently the girls find me really attractive. Every class I walked into, they all stared at me lovingly and some just tried seducing me. I asked a group of girls if they could help me find the office. They all stared at me with wide eyes and crowded around me like I was famous. They were pretty and but I am gay. Another problem with this is that I am kind of claustrophobic. One of them just stood behind the rest looking annoyed. She pulled me from the girls when she noticed my breathing getting a little heavy.
“I am so sorry about them. I can tell you are not good with small spaces.” She said trying to apologize.
“No its fine. They didn’t know.” I said assuringly.
“They are just really boy crazy,” she chuckled, “Im Sarah and you are?” She introduced herself holding out her hand.
“Hi Sarah. I’m going to call you Sarbear. I’m Luke.” I said shaking her hand.
“Well Luke I have to go. I will see you later?” She said as we got to the office and walked away. I walked into the office and up to an oldish looking lady.
“Hi what can I do for you?” She said sweetly.
“Hi um.. im here for my schedule because I’m new.” I said awkwardly.
“What year are you in?”
“Im in 11.” She went through files until she found me.
“Ah. Here you are hon. Have a good day!”
“Thanks, you too.”
*time skip*
When the bell for lunch rang I was so relieved. I was starving.
“Finally! I’m starving!” Calum exclaimed reading my thoughts.
As Calum introduced everyone to me, I was thinking of how they would be asses. It turns out they were actually nice. Calum is a jock he just doesn’t sit with them a lot. Most of the lunch period I stared at the table across the room. Sarah was sitting with that one boy. Calum’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
“Luke who are you staring at.” He asked while the others kept talking to one another.
“Whos that guy over there with Sarah?” I replied pointing over to the two.
“Next to Sarah? That’s Ashton Irwin, nice kid but he just shuts everyone out nowadays. Doesn’t talk to anyone but Sarah and I have no idea why. I though he was pretty cool.”
“Why don’t you talk to him then?”
“Because Luke. I said that he was cool and all and I would like to be friends with him. But talking to him would be social suicide around here.” Calum said with wide eyes. I just sighed and changed the subject. I tried to talk to Calum as much as I could because he is a senior so he is a year ahead. He seems like a dumb person but he is actually really smart.
I saw Ashton run out of the room as Sarah was calling his name. I told Calum I had to use the bathroom as an excuse to leave. He obviously believed it. I walked out of the cafeteria and down the hall way to a horrible sight
“What the hell are you doing!?” I asked yelling.
“Just giving the faggot what he deserves.” Jacob replied bluntly while slightly laughing.
“NO ONE deserves your shit Jacob.”
“What are you going to do new kid?” He said teasingly. That’s when I punched him square in the face and he stumbled back before running off with his crew.
I ran over to Ashton and offered him my hand. He shakily took it so he could stand up. Now that his hood had fallen I could see his face fully. He had beautiful hazel eyes with a notch of green in them and amazing honey-colored hair.
“Are you good? Should I take you to the nurse?” I asked him worriedly. He just shook his head.
Do you talk?” I asked again. He stayed silent which gave me my answer.
“Well I have to go but be careful. I’ll see you tomorrow.” I said walking away.
Why does he look so down. I understand that he just got beaten up but beforehand he looks so down. I will get through to him no matter what.
