Please disregard the "cast members". The only people I actually imagine being in the story is Ariana and Zayn Malik as theirselves. You are free to imagine who you want to play as the characters. Enjoy!

Summer 2008
"Ari, sweetie, are you in there?" her mother says through her bedroom door.
"Yes mom, I'll be right out." Ariana speaks through the door.
After 5 minutes of looking for a hiding spot to put her box of song writings in, Ariana finally opens her bedroom door. Her mother walks in and looks at her with a face full of suspicion.
"Is there a boy in here?" Ms.Grande gives her daughter a slight smirk.
"No, Mom, theres no boy in here and never will be. Well, besides Zayn." she chuckles.
"Well thats good. So anyway, Ive been meaning to ask you about school. You are getting your extra college credits, right?"
Ariana stares at her mother in slight fright. This also made Ariana a bit upset, being that this was her summer vacation and she decided to ask her about school. Ms.Grande is unaware that her daughter doesnt want to be a clinical psychiatrist or a doctor, or just anything that deals with having to be in a office. Singing was always Ariana's passion, its what made her want to be successful in life. Everyone knew that she could sing, but her mother did not accept that. Ms.Grande believes that the entertainment business was made for people who want things easy in life. Ariana begs to differ. Ariana believes people in the entertainment business work just as hard as anyone else.
"Umm.. yes." she finally replies. Her fingers begin to play with each other.
Little does her mother know that she has not been gaining those college credits. In fact, Ariana has been spending her time strengthening her vocals with Zayn's step sister, Colleen. Colleen is a very goofy and funny young lady, but she takes singing and acting very seriously.
"Thats good. I actually set up an open house at this University for you." she replied excitedly. Ariana cringes at the words that leave her mouth.
"Um I was thinking .. maybe we can skip that and I can go audition for a movie or something." Ariana replies with her arms behind her back and her fingers crossed.
"Ariana, youre not really bringing this up again." Ms.Grande runs her hands through her short black locks. She takes a seat on Ariana's bed.
"Yes mom, I am. You know that I dont want to study medicine or law. I want to perform mom, thats all Ive ever wanted to do."
Ms.Grande looks at Ariana in annoyance. Ariana looks at her mom with dismay. She motions herself onto the bed. Her legs are crossed and shes now playing with the draw strings on her Yale hoodie.
"Ari, I want you to be prepared. Prepared for life and all of its struggles. Being an entertainer will not guarantee you success for life. But gaining knowledge will. Knowledge is key to a successful life." Ms.Grande leans over and grabs her daughters manicured hands. "Its not that I dont want you to follow your dreams, but I want you to be ready and secure for the future."
"I know mom, thank you for looking out for me." Ariana forces a slight smile and hugs her mom. Ms.Grande gets up from the bed and exits Ariana's room.
Waiting for the door to close, Ariana starts streaming tears out of her eyes. She wipes them with the sleeves of her hoodie and steps off the bed. Everything that her mom said to her a few moments ago was a lie, and she knew it. Ms.Grande did not want Ariana to make the same mistake she made, which was abandoning education.
