─── 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐨𝐲𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐀 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐌 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 by the Black Lake, a slight breeze making the grass flutter gently. Laurelle hugged her legs to her chest, resting her cheek on her knees. She turned back to Clara, who was animatedly ranting about the repulsive behavior of a Gryffindor sixth year she had the displeasure of patrolling with.
"And the bloody wanker has the audacity to put his noodle arm around me! I swear, if we were allowed to hex the prefects, he wouldn't have been able to utter another one of those atrocious pick up lines until he was middle aged!"
Laurelle simply rolled her eyes, saying, "Well, it's quite possible you could have gotten away with a small jinx. We both know Dumbledore would have overlooked it."
"But you're forgetting, Ella," Elodia started, "that Miss Head Girl cannot afford to make a mistake. There's no point in taking a risk, or her reputation could be ruined," she concluded, dramatically gaping back at Laurelle. Clara gave Elodia a light shove, prompting Elodia to shove both girls, which somehow ended with the trio falling on their sides. Giggling slightly, they shifted onto their backs, Laurelle sandwiched between the two girls.
"I know he's a bloody creep and all, but at least you're getting the boys," Elodia stated in a matter of fact tone. "Ella, on the other hand, hasn't spoken to any boys her age, save for Bertram and Lupin." Laurelle saw realization slowly creep onto Elodia's face. "Do you fancy Lupin? That would actually be really cute, I can see it happening!"
Laurelle quickly cleared up the matter, stating, "I do not fancy Lupin, Elodia. He's a wonderful boy, I'll give him that, but I can't see myself with him romantically."
"Oh, well. You've got to fancy someone, though. We will find you someone if you don't," Elodia proclaimed. Laurelle let out a scoff.
"Why are you laughing, Ella?" Clara asked. "You really ought to loosen up. Even I've been on more dates than you. I think it will help. Now, what kind of boys should we go for?"
"I don't really want to date now," Laurelle said.
"Are you really telling me you don't want to date any of the boys at our school? Or," Elodia paused, hesitating, "do you like girls? If you do, that's okay, we won't get mad or anything. Just as long as it's not a death eater or something. We want you to be safe."
Laurelle laughed softly at Elodia's remark and said, "no, nothing like that. I just want everything to get a little better, especially at home, before I think about dating someone."
"Just because we're going through tough times does not mean that you're not allowed to have fun. Loosen up a bit, it's our last year here," Elodia said encouragingly. Laurelle looked at the brunette, then glanced over at Clara who appeared to be deep in thought.
"I wasn't able to ask you this yesterday. How did your first trip to the library go?" Clara asked. Elodia gave Laurelle a sheepish half smile as an apology for not asking earlier.
"It…" Laurelle took a minute to collect her thoughts, "well, it did not go as well as I thought it would. I looked through one book. It was horrible, the way they'd written about werewolves. I couldn't imagine Sam being like that. But I've got to face the music, right? All the books will say horrible things; I can't give up just because of that."
"Don't put too much pressure on yourself, Laurelle. Remember we're always here," Clara said.
"We can come with you and help you if you like, Ella!" Elodia chimed in with a supportive grin.
