Dedicated to my STAN-fan 🚂 ☔️
====================
Is there anything more stereotypical than love at first sight? Than running into each other's arms? Kissing in the rain? Happily ever after?
Laura didn't think so.
She flung her kindle onto the table in front of her with disgust. Absolute bloody trash. Why was it always so hard to find a good book? 'Kindle recommends this', 'The Times top 40 that' ... all of them complete jibberish.
Laura wanted something exciting, something unpredictable, where you havnt worked out the end by half way through the second chapter. She wanted intrigue, seduction, adventure, and above all originality.
With despair she flicked through the other titles which were downloaded onto her Kindle, but none of them caught her eye. And up here there was no internet to download anything new.
She peered out of the window - the sun blindingly gleaming ahead of them, casting orange and yellow streaks across the clouds ahead. Looking beneath her the clouds were duller - a vast soft grey expanse spread beneath her in every direction like a large pillowy bed. Laura found herself imagining leaping from the window and bouncing gleefully from cloud to cloud.
Out of habit, she picked her phone up from the tray table in front of her, and started swiping through the different screens, barely aware of what she was doing or of what she was looking for. Unsurprisingly, nothing had changed except the time, since she had set her phone to aeroplane mode two and a half hours ago.
She opened the documents app, and started rereading this Friday's plan for the seventeenth time that week.
Seasonal Celebration RBR
Laura Cosworth, Internal Events Coordinator
Seasonal celebration! Bloody ridiculous. Please can we just call it what it is? A sodding Christmas Party?! But no - HR had said in order to include employees of all backgrounds, all preferences, and all origins, no one was allowed to refer to Christmas.
Events management had always been Laura's thing. Even before she'd turned professional she'd been the one organising her school prom, or planning her friends' weddings. Laura had attended a Red Bull event in England as a guest a couple of years ago, and once she'd caught wind of the prestige and budget of RBR events she'd set her sight on the team and never looked back.

She scrolled further down the document to her own notes where she'd written out a short introductory speech. As the most senior organiser for the event she took the responsibility for welcoming all external guests to the party, and then introducing Christian to the stage before his speech, not that he needed any introduction of course.
