Nadia was late. Again.
I am quite confident that someone at some point in time made a graph to prove a correlation between tardiness and intelligence. Let me tell you what, my friends, that graph DEFINITELY had a positive correlation. If you don't buy that excuse, the Nadia would happily have us defer to the second: Better to show up late than ugly.
Now, Nadia was not usually too worried about running late. After all, her job in cyber-security is one that never rests, so it isn't very difficult to imagine that the experts in this field (i.e. her) wouldn't work a typical nine-to-five schedule. Today, however, the MIT lab where she works was having a "special guest." Some wealthy alumni that Nadia wouldn't give her left shoe to meet. Furthermore, she was quite certain that it was all some idiotic publicity stunt to begin with. Unfortunately for her, her boss was making her care. You see, despite Nadia's penchant for tardiness, she was the best MIT had. In fact, Nadia was one of the best hackers the world had, so it was only fitting that MIT would want to show her off.
To ensure her cooperation, her boss had made sure to threaten Nadia with one of the only things people knew she liked: coffee. In the event of Nadia's lateness, her boss had assured her that she would be shoved into the office furthest from the campus coffee shop- the basement. Not only was the basement far removed from the campus coffee shop, but it was also dominated by people who thought that the black tar known as Community coffee was the "cream of the crop." Her boss even thought to cut out loopholes- Nadia could not by any means purchase a personal deluxe coffee machine for her office.
Finally, after a solid half-hour of her cursing at all of the humans who dared to drive their cars on the same road she was on and biting her thumb at all gods for her general tardiness, she whipped into the lab's parking garage with a mighty squeal from her tires.
And so concludes our introduction.
