"N-no."
Stark looked over at the woman. The waver in her voice was the only bit of weakness he had heard from her in the whole hour he has known her. He was a little surprised to be honest, but he was mostly curious. Everyone wanted to know who their soulmate was, so why didn't she? She was the first to create a system that worked, and yet she hadn't tried it? It didn't make any sense. So he asked- "Why not?"
"Curiosity mostly. I want to see what scenario the universe has concocted for me to meet my soulmate in. If I know who they are, then the whole experience would be tainted. Consider it an experiment."
Of course, Nadia wasn't telling the whole truth. She was afraid. It was as simple as that. People put all of their hope into their elusive soulmate. What if Nadia's doesn't want to be with her? Maybe that's a foolish way of thinking. Still, it really is impossible to erase doubt from your mind- especially when it concerns something so monumental.
Furthermore, Nadia has two soul marks... That isn't unheard of, but it is still something that is labeled "taboo." Two lovers? It isn't exactly the norm, and as history has proven time and time again, people are scared of things that go against the status quo. No, Nadia is much happier not knowing."Ah- I see," Stark said. He still held some doubts- he could tell she wasn't telling the whole truth, but what did he care? He barely knew the woman. Sure, she was beautiful and apparently brilliant, but he wasn't going to suddenly fall in love and hang on her every word.... right?
Meanwhile, Stark's right wrist started to itch. (The reader would note that this is where his soul mark is. However, this is also where Stark's wristwatch was, so he thought nothing of it.)
"Could I try?"
Nadia glanced over at the man. "Well, sure- but the results will not be instantaneous. Budget cuts made me pull a part of the programming, so it is a slower model right now. I will need a blood sample and a secure email address to send the results to."
Stark was quick to comply.A/N: Hello everyone! Obviously COVID-19 is affecting us all. I hope all is well with you. I am a university student and our dorm halls closed, so I for one have been spending all of my time the last couple of weeks driving home across country and transitioning to online classes.
Question: How do y'all feel about the point of view in this story? Would y'all prefer if I stuck with one person's thought rather than going back and forth so often? This is the first book I have attempted to write, so I am still finding what my style is.
Sending all of my love,
-AP.S. the more responses I get on the aforementioned question the sooner I will know how to proceed... I feel a bit stuck right now, so I would really appreciate it! <3
