Chapter 13: Old Friends.
I closed the door behind me and leant against it for a moment trying to collect my thoughts. It was getting late and I knew I couldn't stay out here for long before someone found me. Shaking my head clear I found the stairs and walked up them heading for my room. I saw someone nocking at my door when I arrived and walked up to them.
As I approached Peter turned around and saw me.
"I was just looking for you." He said coming closer to me with a bright smile spread across his face.
"Is that so? And what is it I can do for you?" I asked smiling back. He took my hand in his and placed a kiss on it before guiding it to the crock of his arm making me face the same direction he was.
"I was wondering if you would join me, the sunset is a lovely sight to see when it hits the gardens."
"Well then by all means, lead the way."
We started walking and soon found our way to the gardens. The sight was as promised a magnificent one. We watched as the sky changed from the pure blues to the oranges and pinks and finally the deep purples and blues of the night's sky, dotted with the twinkling stars.
We shared some stories and laughed as we watched the day slowly turn into night. It was nice and I felt comfortable here with him, laughing and talking, it makes me think that maybe I could do this, stay here for a while longer and get to know him more and maybe even go through with it later if I chose. But I still missed home; maybe I could ask if I could visit home, my parents and Danni.
We sat there in silence for a few moments and I felt the questions bubble up again. Damn it! I seriously think this is a disease or something, maybe I should invest in a muzzle.
"What is it?" He asked breaking the comfortable silence.
"What are you talking about?"
"You have another question don't you? I'm beginning to recognise the look." He said smiling with a slight chuckle.
I nodded biting my lip, slightly embarrassed that I had been caught out.
"Go on then, ask away." He said leaning back in the chair.
I took a deep breath and turned to face him front on. "Why did you pick me?" I asked after debating with myself for a while. I couldn't work out what he wanted with a girl like me but I'm still not sure if I can trust him or not. I guess this will be the test.
"I have been watching you for a while now and I guess I fell in love with your kind nature, sweet smile and the fact that you are just genuinely a good person, you are just what my kingdom needs. What I need." I was flattered by his kind words but also kind of creped out, he was watching me?! I don't care where you come from or who you are that sentence is creepy regardless of where you're from.
And as for my kind and caring nature, well then I guess he wasn't watching me when I was attempting to kill my o so gracious kidnapper.
"And why did you send Logan to get me?" I tried to get off the subject of him watching me but was only welcomed by the pain of feeling abandoned and alone at the slight mention of his name.
Now felt like a good time to ask why he sent an ammeter who never managed to save a doll let alone a really person.
"Well I originally wanted to send my most trusted guards but I was counselled against it as apparently sending an army would be considered suspicious. Many of my people don't venture out into your world so I was forced to use someone who knew their way around regardless of their training. I hope he wasn't too arrogant or rough with you?" he said the last part raising his eye brow at me like he was waiting for me to change my earlier answer that I was perfectly fine.
