Saturdays are never fun. I don't get to sleep in. I'm expected to work. My dad has been looking at the yard for several minutes now.
"I think I will put in a small fishpond right under this tree." said Dad.
I nod. He has me gathering rocks from the yard to gather a foundation for it. After several hours, I used the bathroom. Mom is jamming out to music and my brother is glued to his game. I hear a knock outside. Aunt Terry and Uncle Randall are here. Uncle Randall gets out of the jeep and walks over to my dad.
Uncle Randall is my dad's brother and Aunt Terry is my mom's aunt. It was confusing as a kid to comprehend but now the easiest way to explain them is my mom and aunt married brothers. My aunt Terry and Uncle Randall lived next door from us.
"Annie. Come here!", said Aunt Terry.
"Do you want to make a few dollars today? My house needs to be cleaned and Uncle Randall needs the yard mowed. Also, I will have you go to work with me Next Sunday to help me put up the activity calendars for the residents."
I nod and go back inside. I take a quick shower and get dressed quickly. I told my dad that I'm going to Aunt Terrys.
It takes four hours to clean the house and mow the lawn. I see my great grandma peeling potatoes. I loved this quality time with her.
"You've been good for your Momma, haven't ya?", asked Grandma.
"Yes Grandma,"
I head home and delve into a book. I'm grateful mom has enough energy to cook because my muscles are sore.
