"We want that one." The words echoed throughout Marlon's brain for the hundredth time. Could he really do it, could he give you to them.

"Marlon, are you ok?" You asked, noticing he seemed a little distant during the day.

His eyes flicked up to yours but looked back down as soon as they did.

"Yeah I'm fine." He said, running a shaking hand through his messy mullet.

"I brought some food for you, you could use a brake."

Marlon had been in his office all day trying to distract himself with work.

"I changed the schedule, we are going hunting tomorrow." Your eyebrows knotted in confusion; since when does Marlon change his routine.

"Ok." You said shutting the door behind you as you left.

The next morning you were awoken by the knocking at your door.

"We gotta get going." Marlons voice called through the thin layer of wood before leaving you once again in quiet.

"Agh." You rolled out of bed, flopping ungracefully onto the floor.

"Marlon why do we have to go out so early, the birds haven't even risen yet." You said, catching up to Marlon using long steps to do so.

"Because I want to see if we will get more food by leaving early." He said concentrating on the path in front of him.

"Alright well I'm going to go check the traps over here." You pointed south through the trees.

Marlon watched as you walked away, regretting his choice even though he knew it needed to be done.

The traps to no surprise were empty, still waiting to catch something.

A crunch came from behind you; "Marlon there's no food." You said turning around to face an older man with a scar running through his eyebrow.

"Your going to need to come with us." The man said as two other people emerged from the bushes. One woman and another girl.

"Wait-What." You said alarmed, backing away only to be grabbed from behind.

"No let go of me!" You squealed as they dragged you along with them.

Marlon watched in horror as one of them hit you over the head, successfully knocking you out.

"I'm sorry." Marlon whispered over and over as he head back to the school.

Marlon said nothing during the 'funeral' only focusing on the sounds of the soft sobs coming from ruby. If only they knew what he did.
