- Curious Mind -
"Stupid, fucking... memories"
Lazuli said as she sat up slowly, her head throbbing with pain and her body covered in cold sweat. She extended her hands in front of her, her grey palms shaking violently with shock and fear.
She inhaled and exhaled the cold autumn air to try and calm herself down, seeing as it didn't do much she decided to stay awake for a little while.
"Judging by the moon it's probably about 4am"
She said to herself quietly enough not to wake up Luna who was sleeping peacefully near the now died out fireplace.
She quietly stood up from her bed roll and stretched a little in an attempt to calm herself down from the sudden dream-flashbacks.
Lazuli decided she will take a small walk around the area, to take in the fresh cold air and relax her muscles. The wind picked up a little while she walk walking between the trees, but she didn't pay too much mind to it as she was used to the cold weather and harsh conditions in the wild.
She decided to leave the bed roll by the fireplace to let Luna know to wait for her to come back, her hair flowing behind her as she walked away from the camp area, avoiding the big tree roots and stepping over them.
She couldn't see too well on the dark so she proceeded to go through her little pouches on her belt until she found a small dried out carrot piece. She took it into her hand and crushed it to dust and swiftly smeared it across her eyes.
Her dark blue pupils flashing blue for a second, were now able to see in the dark as she casted a spell on herself, which she hasn't done in a while now; she wasn't the biggest fan of casting magic.
She continued walking through the dark forest, crunching on the leaves but trying to be as quiet as possible to not wake up any possible dangerous creatures around.
She kept walking what felt like hours when only a few minutes passed, seeing various trees with different sizes and thicknesses, the branches making shapes in the navy blue sky above her.
Despite being naturally cautious in her surroundings, she actively had her eyes and slightly pointed ears peeled to any noise she could decipher.
A few minutes after aimlessly walking around in the attempt to calm down her heartbeat and thoughts, she started to hear what sounded like water moving slowly, the liquid quietly hitting the shore and making small splashing sounds.
Without thinking about it twice, she started to head in the direction of the water, figuring out it couldn't have been too far away. She eventually found an opening in the woods, where the was a quite large pond in the middle of the forest.
Filled with black as void water, slowly moving with the direction of the wind, the giant full moon reflecting in the middle, throwing a bit of moon light around the area.
She slowly approached the water making sure she didn't have any unexpected company, possibly equipped with claws or sharp teeth, as she cupped her hands together to collect some water into her hands to splash the freezing cold water against her light grey skin.
She exhaled deeply and the small water droplets raced down her face, making it cold and freezing ; it was calming. Lazuli sat on the cold hard ground, a few feet away from the water to avoid getting wet, and let herself calm down and think for a while.
She knew the attack wasn't her fault and that she was too young to be able to help in any way against such a gargantuan creature that she saw that day, yet she still happens to blame herself for the deaths of her parents, but she was also sad over the fact that her sister wasn't there to help, and probably doesn't know what happened, even though it's been such a long time.
She didn't let herself think too much as she would drown in the thoughts of regret, she stood up and looking at the lake one last time, she headed back to Luna to maybe get at least a few hours of sleep, before continuing to move through the Wild Hills.
She eventually made it back to camp in a span of few minutes thanks to her natural orientation skills, as she proceeded to get a few hours of sleep before continuing her journey in the morning.
