"Hey you." I muttered, slowly walking into the room. Landry looked up at me. He didn't seem happy with me being in here, but he didn't seem upset either. His day brightening smile was gone. His once green iris's now a dull grey, dark purple bags hung low under.

"Hey." He sighed. Not wanting to get closer nor to upset him, I sat in a chair farthest away from the bed. He continued to stare at the ceiling.

"So uh...how do you feel?" I asked glancing around the room, not leaving my eyes on anything in particular.

"As good as I can be, I guess." I felt he didn't really feel like talking about it.

"Do you want something to do? Food maybe?" I cursed myself, I was acting just like Maria. I knew how much pushing did to someone. He stayed silent.

Do you enjoy playing chess?" The simple sentence had caught me off guard.

"I do, would you like to play?" He slowly nodded his head. A small smile made its way to my lips. I slipped out of the room, and headed straight for the library to grab one of the chess sets. Once I had achieved my items I headed back.

We sat and played for hours. Round after round we laughed and joked, it was if the old Landry I knew was back. But a simple game could not take away the reality that lied before us. The smile he had so bravely worn was gone. The smallest hint of green in his eyes was gone again.

"Josie, I think I would like to be alone for a while." He said, looking at the door. My face dropped.

"Oh alright." I mumbled getting up. My mind was racing as I headed to the door. Stopping dead in my tracks, I turned back to him.

"No." I said. Confusion and what seemed like anger accumulated in his eyes.

"What?" He asked monotonously.

"I said no." I raised my voice. The amount of anger he showed started to rise. But the amount of rage I felt at this moment was even higher.

"I'm not just going to walk away, and I absolutely will not let you push me away." I stated angrily.

"That's not your choice to make." Landry ground out.

"Contrary to your beliefs it is." I walked over to the bed he lied in, and plopped down next to him.

"My entire life I pushed everyone away. I will not let you make the same mistake I have made over and over again." I stated strongly, tears filling the back of my eyes.

"I'm here and will be for a very long time, getting rid of me won't be that easy Landry Rueben." A smile appeared on my face, finally letting the tears fall. Landry pulled me in to a tight hug.

"Please don't ever leave my side Josie." We pulled apart, not breaking eye contact. Slowly we inched towards each other our lips growing closer, and..........

"Landry we brought you some lunch." Mrs. Rueben greeted. We pulled apart as quickly as we could, both blushing.
