< perspective: snufkin >

The air was getting cold.

Not the normal cold, almost as if every bit of the Earth was frozen still except Snufkin.

Perplexed, he stood carefully, and poked his head out of his tent. Being wary of his bare feet against the rough dirt.

His eyes searched for the culprit of the freezing air, and found a dark shadow lingering over the lake near him, unmoving.

Snufkin had never seen it before. At least near moominvalley.

With no bit of hesitation, he ventured toward the creature and slowly keeled down beside it.

"Ah, bit cold, huh?" Snufkin being careful with his words, turned his head to face it.

After a long pause, Snufkin spoke once again. "Not much of talker, are you?"

Still no response.

Getting a bit frustrated, Snufkin continued, hoping to make the creature talk. "Isn't it a bit lonely out here? Don't you have a family?"

His thoughts automatically went to Moomintroll. With that thought brought an ache to his heart. Could he--miss Moomin?

All of a sudden, his thoughts ran empty. Pressure tore through his body, as his feet were no longer touching ground.

"I--I don't..." his words were like single breaths of air as his eyes jetted open.

At a glance, everything looked normal. For a moment, Snufkin thought he only imagined it.

But upon looking closely, he noticed the creature was far away. He was...drifting.

In a wave of panic, Snufkin tried his hardest to swim back. Pushing as hard as he could.

With every try, only brought more exhaustion. His feet were--

His feet were trapped in ice.
