Not even the wretched sound of my alarm could bring my spirits down. I was awake before it ever went off. In fact I hadn't slept at all, aside from a small nap out in the field. I begrudgingly made my way home around 4 am. I always hated leaving. I arose from my bed and hit the showers. Better to remove the smells of nature before anyone asks any questions. It felt good. I had that stupid grin on my face that I always had after a night with Allison. I couldn't help it. It seemed almost criminal to have to attend class after a night like that, but I suppose it wasn't too bad. Sin and I had a new piece to work on, some little number called "In The Woods." Looked fun to me. My morning was a blur. Before I knew it I was looking out the window of the bus again. The sky was grey again and I still hated grey skies. I wonder where Allison is. I noticed that she wasn't on the bus. Mayhaps she walked to school. She lived much closer than I did. It didn't bother me, she was pretty hit or miss for riding the bus. I went on auto pilot for a bit, breezed my way through my first few classes. I snapped back around lunchtime. Everyone was all excited for the homecoming game tonight, and the famed party that would follow soon after. I heard footsteps behind me, muffled and slow. Almost as if someone was trying to sneak up on me. It suddenly clicked in my brain and I sat up straight and spoke with a calm and smug tone
"Hey stranger, missed you on the bus." I could practically hear the disappointment on her face as she straightened herself up and sat down next to me.
"Sorry about that, I wanted to walk..my neighbors got a new dog and I had to see it" She said in the most innocent voice she could muster. I laughed and we both agreed that was a very good excuse. I noticed her cheeks had turned red and I poked her and asked what was up. She shyly told me that Caden, the previously covered football player had again asked her to his party tonight. She said that she really wanted to go, but she would only do it if I was there too. The way she looked at me, how could I possibly deny her. I gave in and she squealed in excitement. If I haven't already, I should definitely mention that I hate parties. I don't care much for sports either, but I care for Allison. So it seems I'd be attending tonight. She was so happy that I agreed. She said that she knew about how he could be with girls so she wanted me there just in case he tried something. Here again was a chance to speak my mind. A chance to save us, but honestly..how could we have known what was coming. Like I said, we were just innocent kids. There's no assembly at school to warn us about this. There was no way to prepare. We were defenseless. Rest assured though, there were assemblies after. Too late. Allison got up to head to class. She hugged me from behind then kissed my head while simultaneously messing up my hair.
"You're the best stranger," She said, calling while almost running before I could object to the desecration of my hair. The rest of the school day played out as such. Sin and I started nailing down our piece, then I received death by powerpoint in French class, and finally I ran my out my heart in P.E. The final bell took me by surprise. I was daydreaming about the party tonight. Do I daydream too much? Nah. The bell shattered my imagination. It sounded as if a pair of cymbals crashed right next to my ear. I yelped in shock. Smooth. Luckily, for the sake of my pride..no one else was around to hear me. Next thing I knew I was slumping down on the front pillar waiting for a ride. I had to second guess myself quickly and make sure I really got picked up on Tuesdays. Well speak of the Devil. Almost as soon as the thought entered my head, my ride appeared in the distance.
