I remember how i was as a child
Smiling and giddy, living my life
Then i grew up
And met a boy
I was in love
As soon as i looked in his eyes
He made promises he could never keep
Broke my heart in a million piece
I was sad and miserable all the time
I lost that what once was mine
Then you came along
I was happy again
Loving you was like dancing in the rain
You made me feel love like never before
I was a lost ship and you were my shore
You cared for me like nobody ever did
Hours turned to days and days to weeks
Just when I thought we were growing together
You were drifting further apart
One moment I had you
By the next you were gone
While I fell in deeper
You stopped falling at all
Started your way back up
With no warnings at all
I'm at the end of a pit now
The one where you left me to rot
I have let go of you
But the memories will always haunt
Who once was a whole person
Is only a shadow now
But I made a promise
A promise to myself
I'll grow and be better
In every sense
I'll find the parts of me I lost
And finally be whole again.
