Chapter 2: The Boy I Never Noticed

Emery's POV

The first day was quite boring, we didn't have much classes. I finished my rest of the classes around 4.30 pm.

I left the college and decided to walk home because
A. My parents doesn't trust my driving skill.
B. I can't ride a bike back home because it will be too underrated.
C. I like to walk and it's not a long distance back home.

Nate already left at break time. He's clearly not the one who likes to study. I have to always complete his assignments. If it wasn't for his parents he won't even show his face to college. College doesn't matter much for him they have plenty of money that can feed generations.

Anyway I started walking towards home. To cut time off I plugged in my earphone and started my play list.

Might seduce your dad type
I'm the badddd...

Beeeeppppp!!!! I saw a car coming towards me in full speed.

The car was about to hit me, but I was pulled by someone. Finally my guardian angel arrived. It happened so quickly that I wasn't able to understand anything.

And obviously we both fell on the Ground. Anyhow I managed to get a  look of the person.

"Are you on a suicide mission or what, you were about to kill yourself." He shouts.

Oh! I think I may know him. He is one of my classmates, Liam may be. I don't know him well. He's the one who always keeps low, just minds his business. Sometimes I find him very weird. He keeps gawking at me sometimes God knows why?

"Of course Not! Why would I do that. It's just that I didn't hear the horn." I say catching my breath.

"You would have if you were not engrossed in this stupid earphones" He says.

He bends towards me and snatches my earphones which were luckily still plugged in my ears.

"Careful it's expensive." I say.

"Not expensive compared to your life, just try not getting yourself killed next time. You might not be lucky next time" he says.

This guy could actually speak because I've never heard anything from him. He is one of the shy nerds who sees nothing but books.

On the other hand he was right, I have habit of getting lost while listening to music. It was somewhat my fault but my egoastic mind won't get it, so gulping all that pride in I apologized. An apology is likely the hardest thing I do but I did.

"By the way sorry and thank you for saving me Liam, that was my bad. I was totally into the song that I didn't hear the car coming. I take that it was totally my mistake." I say.

"Actually it's Ian, Liam's the other guy and it's okay as long as you are alive." He says.

God I am so bad with names, how can I not know at least my classmates names.

" I'm so sorry Ian, I'm so bad with names, but thank you tho." I say.

Luckily we didn't fell on the rough side of the ground, so we didn't get hurt much just few scratches and cuts.We both got up, collected our stuff and dusted ourselves.

"By the way were you following me or what. What are you doing here?" I ask.

"You are not the only one who stays here. I am not a stalker.
I shifted few houses away from yours few months back." He says.

"Oh!! I didn't knew that, I've not seen you much here. Don't you like to socialise sometimes?" I say which makes the situation more awkward. Guess I should speak less sometimes.

"No Emery that's not my Jam. That's just a total waste of time." He says.

"Okay but don't you feel the need of enjoying, hanging out with friends, doing normal teen age stuff?" I ask.

"Who said that I don't enjoy. I have a pretty good life, it's just I don't like to show it. I like to keep it to myself and I'm quite bad in making friends. Sometimes being alone and isolated feels so good, so relaxing." He says.

"Who said you are bad in making friends. We talked today after so long, even after being in same class. We can be friends, may be we can know each other better." I say which I don't understand why.

"Are you sure you wanna be my friend?" He asks surprisingly.

"Yes!! Of course I'm sure." I say.

And that was the day we started talking. He seemed pretty good person to be friends with.

We walked together to our houses. It was actually a silent walk.

Booo!!! I was about to scream when I opened the door, it was my little sister Jenny. It's her daily habit of tricking and scaring me.

"Hahaha!! Got you Em hahaha!"
What happened today not gonna yell at me?" She laughs.

"Not in a mood jenny, I'm tired!!" I reply.

"It seems, but it looks you rather got into a fight, whom did you got messed up with?"

"No, jenny I didn't fight with someone, I tripped." That's the best lie I could say.

I'm not gonna tell her the truth that I was about to get hit by a car, she would have made a big issue out of it.

"Yup that's because you use your phone a lot. I bet you must be using your phone when you tripped" she says which is true.

"Oh wow jenny that's hilarious!!!" I tease her.

Mom and daddy were busy preparing the dinner. I went to my room, changed into some comfortable t-shirt and shorts.
I completed my homework as we still had time dinner.

After 45 minutes mom called us down for dinner. Mom made some steak and some wedges for dinner. It was really good, she's a good cook.

Dinner time was basically family time, it's the only time we all sat together and talk about our day.

"How was your day Em"? Dad asks.

"It was good dad, just basic normal day." I say.

"Yes dad and she tripped while using her phone" jenny says.

"Can't you just shut your mouth for a while jen, why do you always poke your nose in my matter." I say.

"No arguing on the table girls" mom orders.

We all just had our dinner and it was time to do dishes. Although it was jen's turn but like always she puts that work on me. Her turn never comes. I think that's the perks of being elder sister, you have to always do the work.

After doing the dishes I was totally exhausted, I packed my bag for tomorrow and set the alarm for tomorrow as I don't want to be late again.

I jumped to the bed and within minutes  I drifted off.
