SIERRA'S P.O.V

Wow, what a weird dream that was. I've never had a dream in all black. I thought as I slowly woke up. Why the fuck is it so bright? I grimaced, trying to see through the blinding light. I finally grew used to the light and see a huge triangular window. As I begin to look around the room, I realize something. This isn't my room.

I was in a completely different house... just like the dream said. No, this can't be happening. It has to be a hallucination or something. I stood up from the bed I was in and surveyed the room. "AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" I screamed at a girl across the room. I quickly put my hand over my mouth when I realize it's my reflection. I walk over to the body length mirror that was in the corner next to the door. I was a gorgeous, hour-glass figured, long haired, skinny, beautiful, unbelievable girl wearing white and black pajamas:

Am I on drugs or something? This can't be real... can it?  I sighed and said to myself, "Only one way to find out."

I opened my door and walked out. Apparently, I was in an attic or something. I went down the stairs and I saw a beautiful, but not huge, kitchen and living room. When I looked around, I didn't see anyone. "Um, hello?" I called out.

"Oh, you're up." I heard a feminine voice say. "You hungry?"

I whip my head around to the kitchen and there's a very pretty woman, scrubbing a bowl. "Oh, um..." is all i could manage to say. Is this really happening?

"If not, it's okay. There's plenty of food if you want some later." She smiled and set the bowl down in the sink. She walked over to the kitchen table and sat down while patting the seat next to her. I reluctantly sat down. "Now, you're probably really confused, huh?" I nodded. "Well, why don't I clear up a few things for you."

"Sure?" This whole situation is just insane, I don't even know if she can make any sense of this.

"Let me introduce myself first, my name is Bianca and I'm a widow. My husband died while serving in the army, it was very tragic and difficult for me to deal with. I'm not able to have children, either. I was almost ready to commit suicide, but then a thought came to me. What if I adopted a child or two? It's the perfect solution." She sighed. "At the time, I didn't live here, I was in Illinois. I went to an orphanage just south of Springfield. Little did I know, they weren't a normal orphanage."

"I don't think I follow you..." I commented.

"They 'take in' only certain kids. One's who are of higher intelligence, or maybe more powerful than others their age. They are made deals for better families. The families sign up and whenever a new deal with a child is made, a family that signed up gets them. They get a one week notice to get in shape for a new kid."

"So, you signed up?"

"Yes, but at the moment I didn't know what they were doing." Bianca pressed her fingers to her temples. "I only found out something was up when Calix started flying around his room within the first year he was here."

I swallowed hard. "F-flying!?"

"Yes, I know. It seems crazy, I almost passed out when I first saw. His wings were so small then." She chuckled a little.

"Ok, fill in more details please. I'm still confused."

"Oh, yes, of course. A few weeks after I signed up, they had a child ready for me, so I went back to Illinois to go get him. His name is Calix. I don't like how they tranquilize their kids, though." I think she could tell that startled me a bit because she followed that statement with "It's perfectly safe! I just don't like it."

"Oh, ok." I replied.

"Right after Calix's incident, I called them immediately. They told me everything, but that was probably only because I work for the government." She rolled her eyes. "Calix was 7 when I got him. For a while, I didn't take anymore children from them. I was too busy dealing with Calix and work. Calix, however, was very lonely. He got made fun of in school for his name and he desperately wanted a brother. He constantly begged me and when he was just over 12, the orphanage reached out to me again. They had an 11-year-old boy ready for me to take in. I hired a babysitter for Calix and I drive back to Illinois. When I got there, there were screams everywhere. A boy walked up to me and hugged me. A nurse with messy hair followed after. She said this kid was mine and that the sedative wore off and he threw a table across the room."

We both chuckled a little bit. "So he has superstrength?"

"Mhmm." Bianca responded. "I named him Jacob. Didn't want another one of my kids to get made fun of for their name."

"You don't need to name me though, I already have a name." I told her.

"Oh, I know. It's Sierra. For some reason, it's only the males who don't remember their names." Bianca shrugged her shoulders.

"So, what's my power?" I curiously asked.

"I don't know, we'll have to find out." She smiled.

"So, Jacob and Calix are my brothers?"

"Adopted, yes."

"Tell me about them." I rested my chin on my palm.

"Well, Calix is 17 now and Jacob is turning 16 in a week. You're 16 too, right?"

"Yes."

"I thought so." She said as she stood up. "The boys are out getting donuts and coffee for breakfast, I told them to get you something too. They should be home in a few minutes, but I have to work."

"On a Sunday?"

She scoffed. "Government, am I right? Your room is the furthest to the right upstairs." She grabbed a jacket and keys. "I'll see you at dinner, bye!"

"Bye?" I said as Bianca shut the door behind her.

Well, this is going to be fun.
