Nico was sick of the infirmary. Will kept finding excuses to have him go there. Even if he assured him he was fine. He wasn't. But being cooped up in one of the Big House's rooms all day wasn't really helping. Besides, why did Will even care?
It was on this note that the blond entered the room. He looked very tired, but smiled as soon as he saw the son of Hades. "Hey, di Angelo, how are you doing?" He asked casually. The question was met with a glare. Will laughed, then turned serious.
"But honestly, how are you?" He moved over to the bed and and reached out to touch Nico. Nico drew back quickly. "I just hate being here all the time." He said darkly. Instead of looking hurt, the son of Apollo flopped down next to the dark haired boy and frowned at him. "But you need it." And then smiling, "doctor's orders."
That was another thing Nico was sick of. The doctor's orders. He was starting to think the only reason Will kept using that phrase was to piss him off. "Shut up, Solace." The older boy shrugged. "I mean it, Nico, You're practically a ghost."
His words triggered a memory Nico hadn't thought about in years... Back in the inventor's workshop... With Minos... When he had proclaimed himself the Ghost King... Now he knew what came with being the Ghost King. He hadn't been fully aware before. Without thinking about it, he pulled the blankets up.
"I AM a ghost. I'm the ghost KING." He said to the annoying blond at his side. "Well come back to the world of the living. I'm sure many people would like that." Will Solace replied, curling up and closing his eyes. Nico scowled and poked him. "Are you asleep?" "Yes." Was the sarcastic answer. After rolling his eyes, Nico decided he might as well rest some, too. He scooted away from his doctor and tried not to think of his secret. A few minutes later he was dreaming, sprawled across the bed.
...
A blinding light... well... blinded Nico. "Ugh." He grumbled in annoyance. "Ahhh the sun!" Was the cheerful reply. He should've guessed it was Will. Nico had to admit the older boy looked quite attractive, standing there in the light, his usually blonde hair tinged golden by the rays. All while THROWING OPEN THE FREAKING CURTAINS.
"The daylight will be good for you, di Angelo." Will lectured, in a better mood than ever. "I can't wait to see you tanned." "Will-" The son of Hades started to threated. All he got was a laugh in return. "I'm kidding. But the sun IS good for you, Nico. No more darkness"
The doctor made his way back to the bed. On the nightstand there was a bowl of chicken soup. It was still steaming. Nico's stomach growled. He scooted further away from the food- and light. "Is- is that for me?" He asked shyly. No. It was probably Will's. And even if it was his, he had already said that he felt perfectly fine. No need for all the dumb fuss.
"Of couse." The son of Apollo picked up the bowl, sat on the bed, dipped the spoon in. and held the spoon up to the younger boy's mouth. "Are you insane?" He whisper-yelled. He needed to be louder. "You are absolutely not feeding me." Instead of answering, he was poked on the lips with a spoon.
A bit of broth dripped onto the bed. None of the boys paid any attention. They were practically battling with their eyes. "Solace, I'm warning-" And before he got a chance to finish his sentence, the spoon was thrust into his mouth. Will looked away guiltily. "Sorry. I shouldn't have done that." "No." was the grumpy answer. Will felt like both hugging and laughing at the pouting Italian.
"Here. Eat the soup yourself. I need to check up on my other patients." With a wink Nico felt he had to have imagined, the blond exited the room.
After about an hour, the doctor returned to check up on Nico. "You ate the broth. Good." Then, "look, I have a fifteen minute break. Mind if I hang out here?" Nico clenched the sheets. "Why would you do that?" "Because we're friends, buddies, compadres," An annoyed groan followed. "Sure. I don't mind."
After idly talking for half an hour minutes (Will was going to be in so much trouble) about everything and nothing, Will had to go. Not to say that he wasn't followed by Nico. Together, they walked around, treating the ill. The raven-haired boy was at first terrified, but Will promised everything would be okay. And... he trusted the infuriating blond. The only thing that was getting on his nerves was the amount of times people told him to ask out Will, or visa versa. "I-I'm straight!"
Yeah right. Two weeks later, they were making out while on kitchen duty.
