The day had gone by quickly, she was already in Spanish class. She had avoided Bella all day, having to go to the office at lunch to talk to the guidance counselor and make sure all her classes for the rest of the year were in order and what she needed to do to graduate.

She was happy she was a senior this year, and classes in Japan were ahead of things in American schools. She would have to see if she could test out of a couple of classes, but the school said they were willing to work with her because of her being Chief Swan's niece. She guessed being related to the Police Chief of a small town had its perks...

"Are you alright?" Kagome blinked, snapping out of her thoughts, and looked to Rose who was giving her a worried look, Jasper who was beside her, had the same look on his face.

Kagome gave a small smile, "Yes, just stuck in my head I guess." which she was. She was trying to figure out what they were and what had gone on between them and Bella. If she figured it out, maybe she could fix things for Bella and she could go back to Spain. Forks was alright, she liked her Uncle Charlie, but it was still somewhat awkward. She knew them but wasn't comfortable around them all the time. She loved them, they were family, but it still felt like they were strangers sometimes.

When she was growing up she only saw them a few times a year, so it wasn't like she was very close to them. Kagome knew she could rely on Charlie when she needed him though and vise versa. It was just, as she said before, awkward.

"If you are sure." Rose paused, a frown on her face as she sat down at the desk beside hers, "Was there a reason you weren't at lunch too? We looked for you."

Kagome gave a small laugh, seeing Jasper take a seat as well, "I just had to talk to the guidance counselor about classes. I may end up testing out of some...hopefully, this class being one of them."

Jasper titled his head to the side, "Why is that? Don't you like being in class with us darlin'." Kagome blushed a bit but shook her head.

"I know Spanish and seems to be cheating when I am fluent in it. Though, from what was said, I probably will stay in this class and test out of a few others so i can graduate on time. I took time off of school and it shows on my credits." Kagome told them, a sad smile on her lips as she thought of why she dropped out of school in the first place.

Rose was about to say something when the teacher walked in, calling for everyone's attention as the bell rang.

"La atención de todos! Today we're starting our midterm project. Oh stop the groaning people I know it sucks but we have to do it. So I want you to separate into groups of three and choose a book, no comic books or those manga things, and start translating it into Spanish. Now get to it! And I want to hear Spanish only! No English starting now!"

The class grumbled, in Spanish, and started moving desks around to get started. Kagome sighed, thankful for the subject change, after all she didn't even know what they were, not that it really mattered to her, and for her to tell them such things was a bit rushed. She had after all just met them. She turned to look at the two that flanked her and offered them a small smile. "So, want to be partners?"

Jasper resisted the urge to purr at the way she worded it but nodded shooting her a charming smile making Rose roll her eyes. "Sure thing darlin', do you have a book in mind?"

Kagome blinked and thought about it, honestly no she didn't have one. "Um no, any ideas Rose?"

Rose smiled and nodded, "Sure what about Vampire Diaries?" Kagome blinked at the odd choice but nodded, "Sure? I'll go ask the teacher if that's okay I'll be right back." With that, she got up to talk to the teacher.

Jasper arched an eyebrow at Rose, "Really Rose? I thought you hated that series. Rose rolled her eyes. "I do but maybe she can put two and two together while reading the book. She already knows we're not human so unlike that twit Bella, I'm sure she'll figure it out quickly be-" She was cut off by the teacher pausing in her talk with Kagome to yell at them. "Oi, you two Spanish only!"

Rose huffed but nodded.

Jasper snickered as Rose elbowed him in his side. "Shut up." He shook his head at her and turned to smile at Kagome as she returned to her seat, a small smirk on her face. "Way to go to you two, now we have to do two books but yeah we can do Vampire Dairies, so I say we do the first two books. Now who wants to run to the library and go get them?"

Rose rolled her eyes at Jasper when he gave her the look and stood up. "I guess I'll go get them back in a few." With that she walked off to go get the hall pass to go get the books.

Kagome sighed and leaned back in her seat, horrid and broken Spanish assaulting her ears. "My God, do they even pay attention to the lessons? They all suck."

Jasper chuckled and mimicked her position in his own chair. "Honestly I doubt it, then again I don't think many could live up to your expectations...you said you were fluent. ."

Kagome let her head roll to look at him. "Yeah I guess, then again I had to learn or I would have been in trouble...living in Spain would do that to you.."

Jasper arched an eyebrow. "Really you went to Spain without even knowing Spanish? That's bold."

Kagome shrugged, "I guess I just wanted to leave Japan so I took my savings and hit the road. I didn't really care where I ended up. It was fun though, the people were really nice. The food was amazing!" Jasper smiled as she started to gush about her travels, easily feeling her discomfort when she spoke about wanting to get out of Japan and let the subject switch.

Rose smiled at the scene she came back to, if things were going this good then maybe by the end of the week their family would finally be complete. "Hey you guys, I'm back let's get started."

Kagome and Jasper blinked and turned to her, so caught in their conversation that they didn't notice when she got back, and smiled at her. "Sure, we only have fifteen minutes left in class though..."

It was ten minutes later that they started packing things away with only five pages of translated work to show for it. Kagome frowned as she glanced at the two books. "We have a lot to do...when is it due again?"

Rose frowned lightly. "Next week, at this rate we're not going to finish in time."

Kagome gave a small hum, glancing at the book, "I guess we could work on it outside of school?"

Jasper grinned seeing an opportunity, "Well we can work on it today after school at our house?"

Kagome paused to think about it, she didn't know what they were and they had just invited her to their house. Normally she wouldn't care but if there was one thing she learned from her travel it was that it never hurt to be cautious. Yet at the same time, she wanted to get to know them, so she smiled and nodded. "Sure. I'll meet you by the front doors after school lets out." With their plans made they all got up to leave the room as soon as the bell rang.
