|CHAPTER 9|
BETRAYAL

Pietro's POV

Wanda and I were heading up to a church somewhere in the middle of Sokovia. We traveled pretty far to get here. We were given meeting plans by an unknown person. We accepted it anyway because of how Stark and The Avengers perceived us to be. All besides Calista...

Wanda sighed. "Talk. And if you're wasting our time--"

"Did you know this church is in the exact center of the city? The elders decreed it so that we could be equally close to God. I like that. You're wondering why you can't look inside my head." The unknown man spoke.

"Sometimes it's hard. But sooner or later every man shows himself." Wanda said, walking up to the stranger.

"Oh, I'm sure they do. But you needed something more than a man. That's why you let Stark take the scepter." Ultron said, walking up to Wanda.

"Ultron." I muttered.

"Is that why you've come? To end The Avengers?" Wanda asked.

"I've come to save the world. But also.....Yeah." Ultron said.

" Ultron said

Wanda's POV

We made our way to our old base. The stench of blood still lingered in the air making me slightly sick to my stomach.

"We'll move out right away. This is a start, but there's something, We need to begin the real work." Ultron said. "I have what The Avengers never will. Harmony." Ultron continued, flying to the middle.

Ultron pulled on the chains revealing some other robots.  "Stark's already got them turning on each other. And when you get inside the rest of their heads--"

"Everyone's plan is not to kill them." Pietro stated.

"And make them martyrs? You need patience. Need to see the big picture." Ultron said, coming right up to us.

"I don't see the big picture. I have a little picture. I take it out and look at it, everyday." Pietro said.

"You lost your parents in the bombings. I've seen the records--"

"The records are not the picture--"

"Pietro." I said.

"No, please."

"We were ten years old. Having dinner, the four of us. When the first shell hits two floors below, It makes a hole in the floor. It's big. Our parents go in, and the whole building starts coming apart. I grab her, roll under the bed, and the second shell hits. But it doesn't go off. It just, sits there in the rubble. Three feet from our faces." Pietro paused for a while. "And on the side of the shell, is painted one word." Pietro said, with a bitter smile.

"Stark." I continued.

"We were trapped for two days." Pietro said.

"Every effort to save us, every shift in the bricks. I think, This will set it off. We waited two days for Tony Stark to kill us." I sighed.

"I know what they are." Pietro nodded.

"I wondered why only you two survived Strucker's experiments. Now I don't. We will make it right. You and I can hurt them. But you... Will tear them apart. From the inside." I furrowed my eyebrows as Ultron put his metal hand on my cheek. And now I'm thinking, maybe we made the wrong call...

I woke up to somebody shaking me violently. I jumped out in shock as I faced Natasha.

"What happened?" I asked, in worry.

"It's the twins. They're gone. They must've changed their minds." Natasha said, as I looked at her in disbelief.

I ran upstairs and checked both Pietro and Wanda's room. They were gone. I almost stepped in Pietro's room to see Tony, Steve and Maria discussing everything. I hid next to the door to see what they were talking about.

"No, Stark. Maybe they needed to do something else than what you're thinking." Steve sighed.

Tony shook his head before looking back at Steve. "No. No. No. They're gone. They probably ditched us and went somewhere else. They are probably trying to find another Hydra base they could side with."

"How could they? Especially, how could he? For a second there, I thought he and Calista had some sort of connection." Maria said a bit disappointed.

"No. He doesn't care. He never did. I tried warning Calista that they were trouble and she didn't listen." Tony said putting his face in his hands.

"No you didn't, Stark. You just told Natasha and I that we shouldn't have brought them here." Maria scoffed as she and Steve walked out of the room.

I decided to go inside the room where Stark still was, analyzing the room.

"I should've taken your warning seriously, Stark. They don't care. They never did. They just wanted to know all the details." I said.

"We've all made mistakes, Kid." Tony sighed.
