ww2 kung fu movie/story - an old story idea of mine, with new stuff added.

(not sure how best to present this story now, especially with the revisions... novel?, graphic novel?, movie? series? anime? right now, it is just a multi-layered story idea that i am working on... )

kung fu story ww2 japan (troops), china (japanese-occupied, peasant/villagers? defending a/n), america (-n, downed, wounded flyer, rescue/escape; to the coast/submarine pick-up, inland to free china, ussr, india/the mountains (shangri-la east of eden, kikujidu/o reference s / ? ), or what) ? early in america's (direct) involvement in ww2?

dolittle or other bombing raid? flying tigers? or what?

there are (at least) 3 or 4 part/layers to this story:

pART 1. the original events: a village in japanese-occupied china, the occupation, the flyer shot down, the rescue , hiding, fleeing, (kung fu!) fight (s) (against the japanese) etc . ? escape, submarine? boat/land ? pick -up ? (the pilot is gay/lovers with one of the chinese guys who rescued him?) insists on taking him with him (flyer+villager-recuer hero(ic)) in the evac (submarine?)...

part 2. after, 1940's hollywood movie about it: the escape is a big news story, hollywood, making a movie about it, hollywood, stereo-types, views of asians, (japanese americans), racism (& in general), etc. (re-)casting, new martial arts film genre/idea/concept of in the american public ? (pr/morale/propaganda)

somehow work in the song 'kung fu fighting' ; maybe as a jazz/ss - big band, swing ? arrangement (bee - bop, jitter bug, boogie-woogie, or etc. ? jazz/swing, i think ?) & maybe the actual version as well, &/or close to it? black los angeles jazz/ss scene club s ? writing & casting, involvement of the pilot (& his chinese companion?), pilot plays himself in the movie (as really happened with that one ww2 guy & film; what was his name? audie murphy/ not sure... ), chinese guy does or does not? (recast as a boy in the studio rewrites?), director - who? (actually, eventually, makes a good proto-kung fu movie, after much struggles) director's cut, test screening s (chinatown/chinese population, effects, studio (& armed forces pr/propaganda) conflicts, edited release cut (more stereotypical; reshoots?), pilot is unhappy about the outcome, free china is sent a translated copy of director's cut ? (surving prints?)

3. hong kong kung fu movie remake: circa 1960's-1990's? i think i favour a 1970's "classic kung fu movie era" remake. pilot & chinese guy are older now, both go over & are involved in the film. (1990's-2000's remake or the remake, then?)

4. now (present day, more or less)?

& what happened to the people, all of them, but especially the villagers? (pilot & us armed forces ppl., chinese villagers, japanese troops, american characters back @home, hollywood, etc.)
