Athalia stood away from the building as it exploded. No, she thought. It's Eclipse now. You can't think about your old life. This is what you've always wanted; to fight back against the Motors. And now you're doing it. So stick to the program.

She saw shrapnel fly in the air. "Move out!" she called, and she charged forward with Skillet. They'd equipped her with a pair of pistols, but she wasn't entirely sure how to use them. All she knew was to follow the team and everything would be fine. At least, they hoped it would.

"Intel says if anyone's in there, they're in the room we just blew to bits," said Skillet as he ran. "I don't know if they survived."

Eclipse looked at him. "They're lab rats. If they've lived through whatever was done to them in there, they can survive a simple invasion."

Skillet kept his eyes on the building. "I hope you're right."

They kept running until they got to the outer wall, where Razor and Torchwick were waiting for them. Torchwick stepped forward. "Ready to do this, newbie?" she asked. Eclipse nodded.

And they ran inside.

There were three figures hunched on the ground in front of the cages, each with robotic body parts. There was a redheaded girl with a robotic leg, a blond girl with an automated hand, and a sandy-haired boy with metal plating on his back. All three of them looked incredibly frightened.

Eclipse walked up to them and knelt by them. "It's okay. It's going to be fine. My name's Eclipse, and I'm going to get you out of here. You want to come with us?"

"Where are we going?" asked the redhead.

"To our secret base," said Eclipse. "We're fighting the government that put you here."

The boy stood up immediately. "Count me in," he said bravely. The two girls, however, were silent. They weren't sure what to do. Time was wasting; these girls needed to make a decision. Eclipse knelt next to them, putting a hand on each's shoulder.

"Hey," she said, "it'll be fine. If you don't want to fight, you don't have to. We can take you there and give you a nice place to sleep, some good food. At any rate, it's gotta be better than this hellhole." The redhead looked at her sister, who nodded. She clasped the blond girl's hand as she looked up and smiled.

They would come.

"All right," said Eclipse. "Think of nicknames for yourselves. Don't argue; we'll explain the system later. For now, just run." They all got up and started to run as quickly as they could. Eclipse thought they'd be home free. That is, until Razor got on the intercom.

"Eclipse?" he said. "Come in."

"I read you," Eclipse responded.

Razor sounded out of breath. "You might have some company on the path you're currently following. Revert to escape route B. Torchwick and I'll meet you back at base."

"Copy that. Don't die, Razor. Over and out."

They ran for what seemed like too long before they decided to stop. Eclipse took a long swig from her water flask, then gave some to Skillet. After that, it was passed to the escapees. As it was handed around, Eclipse sat on the ground and wiped sweat from her brow. This was a tough journey; she didn't like escape route B. Then she heard something.

A girl was singing.

She turned and looked at the redheaded girl, who was singing to her sister. It was an old song; Eclipse could tell that much. But the lyrics were compelling, and she felt obligated to sit and listen.

Hey, Lucy, I remember your name.

I left a dozen roses on your grave today.

I'm in the grass, on my knees. Wipe the leaves away.

Just came to talk for a while. Got some things I need to say.

Now that it's over, I just want to hold her.

I'd give up all the world to see that little piece of heaven looking back at me.

Now that it's over, I just want to hold her.

I've got to live with the choices I've made, and I can't live with mys-

Shots rang out.

Skillet yelled.

Eclipse grabbed the girls.

And she ran.

Note: Lucy is performed by Skillet and I don't own it... except on iTunes... does that count?
