Chapter 8

Spencer's P.O.V
"Aria needs me to go over to her place!" I explain to my mum "Can I go?". She thinks about it for a while, I can see it in her face. Lines on her forehead scrunch up, as if she's weighing out the good and bad possibilities, though it's not that big of a decision.

"No" she says abruptly.

My face falls. She must notice because then she explains. "Spencer, I should of told you this earlier but..." she trails off, unable to say the rest. "Mum.." I say, kind of asking her to continue. Before she opens her mouth to continue, Melissa walks in.

"Was I interrupting?" She asks. Obviously by our faces she notices something's wrong, mums face most of all. But then my mum speaks. "No, Spencer asked to go to Arias, I don't why though she never really asks."

Melissa's face lightens. "Oh! Spencer, why are you asking mum?" She questions. "Because mums home and she didn't tell me the schedule. If were doing something or not" I answer, composed and confident.

"No were by doing anything Spenc, you can go" My mum says, showing off her bad acting skills. I smile, grab my keys and head to the car. I don't realise until I reach the driveway Melissa's following me.

"Yes?" I say maybe a bit too rudely. "What's going on? What did mum tell you?" She demands. "She was about to tell me something, why I couldn't go, then you walked in" I reply. Now that I think about it, it was a bit weird.

Melissa seems to think the same thing, because her face shows confusion. She walks into the house without another word.

*Texting Aria*
Me: Sorry I'm late, I'll explain later.

Aria: Okay but hurry up! It was an S.O.S after all!

Me: Sorry! Team Sparia will soon unite!

Aria: Ok Spenc! See you soon!

*Stop texting Aria*

I quickly drive to Arias. not wasting anytime. Aria was right, it was an S.O.S after all.

I arrive at Arias. Apparently it happened at Hanna's but due to shock Aria went straight home.

*Knocks on a door*

I hear footsteps approaching. I am greeted by Emily. "Took you long enough, quickly, come in" Emily says hurriedly. I rush upstairs, and everyone is already in Arias bedroom, and by everyone I mean Hanna and Aria, there is only four of us, so that's everyone to me.

Aria is crying into her pillow and Hanna is comforting her. "What's wrong?" I ask. Aria looks up and hesitates. But she doesn't need that long, soon enough it all comes spilling out. " 'A' was in Hanna's house and we corned him and it was Ezra, I can tell by his voice." Aria says all at once.

It is a lot to take in, but I know exactly how to respond. " I thought that about Toby remember? Now everything's fine!" I say, remembering those times. She nods. "But we found something, something to prove it."
