-Princess Twilight POV-
I finished yet another message from Sunset Shimmer, detailing how much they missed Rainbow since her supposed death.
Discord poofed in front of me. "Want to see how she's doing?"
"I actually was thinking about that a lot. She's really close to the Sirens now. Won't they want to see exactly how their friend is doing?"
Discord chuckled, "How forgiving of a heart you have. Maybe one day, but our spectrum haired dragon rider just found out about her role in the prophecy. Don't think those girls will want to find out from anywhere but the source, would they?"
"Guess you're right. Plus, we'd need to find a way to deal with the whole banishment thing for an hour or so. Call the others and ask if they want to come."
"With pleasure," he snapped his fingers, "It's done."
Within minutes, all the other girls but Rainbow Dash was in the throne room. "She has a wonderbolt practice. We can fill her in later." Starlight told us.
Discord surprisingly seemed slightly nervous, but cast the spell and was relieved when it worked, I put it in the back of my mind.
Rainbow and her dragon friends landed on the shores, Rainbow seeming to be deep in thought.
"You okay Rainbow?" Toothless asked her.
Rainbow nodded, "I just need to think by myself. Why don't all of you play somewhere?"
They reluctantly left, leaving Rainbow alone at the beach she took a deep breath holding her head in her hands.
"Just so you're aware," Discord cut in, "Her childhood was much different than ours."
After he said that, Rainbow began to sing.
"I used to be an outcast
I used to stand alone
A rouge, a clitz, a joker
No place where I belong
Only my parents liked me
And how could I have known I was wrong
Just so wrong"She looked in her reflection and and the water showed moments with her friends using the magic of friendship and hanging out.
"And then I thought I found it
A dream that I could share
I thought I was so lucky
It almost wasn't fair
I thought I knew my purpose
I thought I knew where I belong
But I was wrongEverything I ever thought I knew
Where I've been where I'm going
Everything I counted on turned out to be untrue
Could have guessed, should have known
Now I do"She now looked at the sky as memories surrounded her.
"Everything I've yearned for
Everything I've planned
All my sweetest memories
Are castles made of sand
Now that it's all crumbling, help me understand
If none of it was really me then who am I supposed to be?And everything I ever thought I knew
Every hope, every feeling
Love and trust and happiness
They're done, they're gone, they're through
And what's left, me alone
Once again, should have known
Now I do"The memories faded and she sat on a rock at the edge of the beach.
"I guess my life meant nothing
I guess it was a sham
I guess I'm someone else now"She looked at a leaf near her that had water on it that she could see her reflection in.
"I wonder who I am"
She obscured her reflection before standing up and walking back into the forest.
"In coming!" A voice came before she was knocked over by a white and red Terror.
"Roman! How many times do I need to tell you that the slingshot isn't a good idea? Seriously!" A grey and purple Terror yelled at the other named Roman.
"Oh Virgil, you worry far to much," Roman replied shaking some leaves from his scales as Rainbow brushed herself off and stood.
"Are you ok Kiddo?" A blue and grey one asked gently landing on Rainbows shoulder.
"I'm fine Patton," she responded by giving him a scratch under the chin.
"Her shoulders are slumped. Something's wrong," Virgil told the others.
"I believe you are correct Virgil," A blue and black Terror said landing on Rainbows other shoulder. "Rainbow appears to be physically fine. However resources tell me that when a scaleless of the female gender says the word fine they really mean that they don't want to explain."
Roman snorted, "What are your resources? A wall painting?"
"Falsehood. Listening to gossip hidden in, what they call, a street is surprisingly informative."
"Yeah. I do have some things on my mind, but I'll just need some time to process it. That's all."
"It's more than that. I can tell," Virgil told her. "You know that I can read people like an open book, right?"
Rainbow sighed, "Right. I can't hide any negative feelings from you, can I?"
"I pride myself in that fact. Sometimes I make it worse."
It was silent at Virgil's last statement for a bit. "Um, regardless," Logan continued, "perhaps speaking your mind will help you be five by five."
Rainbows face seemed lost, "Um... Five by five?"
"Either means loud, clear; or fine, ok. Both work in this circumstance."
Rainbow shook her head with a smile. "You and your large vocabulary."
Patton then talked to Logan with sincerity and happiness in his voice. "That's right! You are so smart." Logan puffed out his chest and raised his head with pide. Then Patton got emotional, "Why don't we talk more?"
"Uh oh. Feelings." He responded backing up.
"As much as I appreciate all of your concern, I'm ok really."
"Come on kiddo, you know that you can talk to us right?" Patton said like a father trying to get their child to tell them what's wrong.
"I'm really good Patton, just, drop it, ok?"
"You know you're not just as much as we do now cut to the chase," Virgil told her almost demanding.
"I said I'm fine!" Rainbow yelled catching fire. The dragons on her quickly flew off as the others jumped back surprised. She looked at herself and took a deep breath the fire being extinguished. "I just need to learn to control my new abilities."
"Want some help?" They looked up and saw Hookfang above them crawling down the trees to ground level. "I think you can learn a bit of my defining trait right now."
"Well ok," she told him turning to the Terrors, "You boys go have fun."
They ran off and Hookfang spoke up "First, to extinguish you need to be calm. A good distraction would work to. Confusion never fails to extinguish either."
"Calm to stop the flame. Got it." She told him.
"To light, being startled might cause flame for a split second, but true fire is sparked by the deepest of your inner rage."
She thought for a bit. "So when I'm angry, I'll light on fire?"
He nodded, "Accidental flame takes less to be lit, but to do it on command, you must dig deep and find what infuriates you most of all."
She thought then closed her eyes concentrating. A scowl slowly came on her face and she lit fire she opened her eyes and the shock that she did it extinguished the flame.
"You'll need practice," Hookfang told her, "but now you know."
Rainbow smiled. "Thanks Hookfang."
