At the age of four Touya was already being trained by his father.
"Enji. He's a child! You can't put him through this. We don't even know if he has a quirk yet."
"No son of mine will be quirkless. Besides he's weak. He needs to get stronger."
"Do you see anything other than a tool to get what you want in him. Enji this is your son. A child you helped create. Don't you care that you're hurting him?"
"That's enough Rei!" He raised his arm.
She backed down from the argument. She knew what would happen if she kept going. Some days she wished she and Touya could just run away. But she'd have nowhere to go.
"Right. I'm sorry Enji."
He left the room. A few minutes later Touya came in, eyes soaked with tears."Shh... Touya. Mama's here." She held him in her arms.
Enji was right. He was weak and feeble. More than a child should be. Was he sickly or...Oh no...
God help him if he had an ice quirk like his mother.
God help his mother if she had to take the blame for the 'mistake' of a son she made.
God help Rei if she had to have another child with that monster. It took her a while to realize she'd been crying.
"Mom? Why are you crying?" She looked down.
"It's nothing. Don't worry about me Touya. I'm fine." She lied.
Touya smiled up at her. A fake smile but a smile nonetheless.A few weeks passed. The training never let up. She prayed the child wouldn't have an ice quirk. She also prayed that he would. She wanted Enji to be happy so she didn't have to bed him again, carry a child for him again or do anything for him again. She hated Enji Todoroki. With every fiber of her being.
She wanted the child to be happy too. No more rigorous training.
She got what she wanted. In a way she was given both. After a training session Touya came to her. There was a small burn on his shoulder. Enji.
"Did he do this to you?" Her eyes watered with tears. An ice quirk. It had to be.
He shook his head.
"You don't have to lie for me. I know the kind of person he is." She scowled. Just thinking about him made her blood boil.
"I'm not lying" he said then small blue flames erupted from his hand. "My quirk. It hurts me." Another small burn formed on his forearm this time.
The worst possible outcome of the child of opposite quirks. No. Why Touya?
"Did he say he'd stop training you?" She asked hopefully.
He shook his head. "No. Dad doesn't care. He's happy I have a fire quirk."A successor. A masterpiece.
A child.
He was a child. No child should be put through this.
Not Touya.
Not him. Not him.
Please
Not my son
Not my baby
