Pilot/Prologue: What am I?
A young girl with short dark hair, and narrow eyes, struggling to do pushups at the age of six. "For us to move on to the next stage, you need to finish that pushup, or I'm leaving you out here," My Father lectured as he stared at me with his arms folded.
"I can't do it!" I shouted. Unable to get my face off of the ground.
"Yesterday you completed one hundred and fifty-six, how are you unable to do two hundred and fifty?" he asked.
I looked towards him, "I can't feel my arms... Can we just move on to the next stage?" I pleaded.
He squirted his eyes and vocalized, "No, or I'll add more weight."
I made attempts to get off the ground, but I kept falling back down. "I can't do it..." I cried. My arms were shaking as they could not bear the weight of the box on my back.
My father dropped another box on top of the previous one. The weight of the new box crushed my chest, and I screamed, "GET IT OFF! IT IS KILLING ME!" When I tried to slide the box off, he would keep it afloat before slamming it back down onto me.
"If you don't do that pushup within ten seconds, I'll place another one of those on your back and leave you here," he stated as he stood in front of me.
"I told you... I can't do it..." I groaned. I began to squirm as I waved my arms and legs around soon after my arms and legs grew weary. He started to count as I laid in the dirt. Staring at the horizon as the sun slowly sets in the distance, I thought, I'm so exhausted.
"8... 9... 10... Hmph, I guess you chose your faith," he said.
"Father, please... have mercy," I whispered before another box slammed onto my back. "ARGH!" I exclaimed. I coughed out blood soon after the place felt cold, and I blacked out.
"See you tomorrow," He rejoiced. When he departed, I used all the strength I had left to push the box off my back, but no use.
"Dammit... why am I unable to help myself..." I sobbed. If I don't get these boxes off of me, I'll die before night falls, I need to hurry, I thought as I made more attempts. After so many efforts, the large boxes slipped off of me. "Finally, ...that's over," I panted. The ground was remarkably cold, and the rocks felt like spikes as I laid there. I need to get moving... I must find shelter, I thought.
I took it upon myself to crawl to the closest cave: dragging my chest and belly across the sea of gravel. I felt like a snake wandering around in the forest. As the sun goes down, it became hard to see where I was going. I observe the area for anything that I can use for shelter. In the distance, I spotted a banana tree and a tree that looked sturdy. "I guess I'll have to use that," I murmured as I crawled next to it. The sounds of wolves howling in the distance were quite terrifying as they echoed throughout the forest. I kept my guard up even though I was injured and had to crawl like a snake. I quickly crafted a bed above the ground to sleep on and created a cane to assist me in walking.
