2 months 29 days (still)
Sparta's POV:
I scanned the room. The person behind this must have left a clue as to what they were looking for. My eyes stopped on the bookcase. Just far enough from the wall where someone could hide.
I slowly approached it and unsheathed my sword that had been resting on my belt. As I approached the small space behind the bookcase I could have sworn I caught a flash of red.
Slowly and thoroughly, I scanned the space again but nothing was there. I was still exhausted from the previous night and obviously wasn't thinking clearly.
Just as I turned back I noticed something on the turned over chair. A long piece of fiery red hair. Just then, I heard the sound of footsteps behind me. I turned around swiftly with my sword raised but the door had already been shut. It was locked.Tessa's POV:
I had amazingly stayed hidden. It was just short of a miracle. As the guard had walked toward me I was sure he had known where I was. He had even looked in my hiding spot.
Either he had the worst eye sight in the history of guards or somehow.... My black maid dress had blende in perfectly within the shadows. I suppose that he was just near blind.
Slowly I had creeped out if my spot. the guard had found something on the chair I tripped over. Oh gods, it was my hair. My distinctive red hair was a curse. He would track me down in no time at all.
I took a long very quiet breathe and quickly opened the door. Trembling, I attempted to lock the door using the key I had found in the office. The guard turned the knob and I stood there frozen in fear.
It was locked. I ran as fast as I could not knowing where I was heading or what I would do when I got there. There was only one word in my mind, run.Sparta's POV:
Repeatedly I slammed my shoulder into the door and it finally gave way. I looked around wildly for the thief. To the right I saw a flash of red hair as the culprit turned the corner.
As I ran after the mysterious thief I failed to notice the silence in the castle and the emptiness in the halls. Later on I would know why.
Then, the unexpected happened. As I caught sight of the red headed criminal she jumped. She jumped right through the stained glass window plummeting down towards the palace gardens from three stories up.Tessa's POV:
Falling. Falling from three stories up straight down toward the hideous palace gardens. I was such a fool. The guard had found me and now I was plummeting to a near certain death.
There was no escape from this horrible fate unless... I looked down to the garden and time seemed to slow down. The guards, two of them were standing directly beneath her. There was a small pond to their left. About seven feet? Perhaps....
It was an insane idea but there was no harm in training it. After all... it's not like I had anything to lose at this point.
Ten feet away
Eight
Six
Five
They looked up and with a maniacal laugh I lunged on top of the first guard. Before the second one could react I knocked him unconscious with the hilt of the other guard'a sword. To hide the unconscious men I rolled both into the shallow pond taking care in not letting them drown.
I may have been a criminal but I was no murderer. It simply wasn't in my nature.
Today had been a reckless and sloppy day. If I wanted to start getting information here I would need to fit in much much better.
