Reader is Shunrei's sister

Growing up in the five peaks with the ancient master was an interesting childhood. You had a deeper understanding for the world and learned valuable lessons that you would carry into your adult life.

One lesson you didn't learn, was how to handle heart break. Years ago, you and your sister, Shunrei, were taken in my a small purple man you was called the ancient master. You both were quite young, you being only a year older than your sister.

One day, a boy showed up to live with you all. His name was Shiryu, and he appeared to be of Chinese heritage like you and was very nice. All three of you got along very well, and hung out when ever Shiryu wasn't training.  As you all got older your affections for Shiryu grew as well. He was always kind to you and you guys could talk about anything together. Unfortunately, as you got older, you noticed Shiryu hung out with Shunrei more and more, often forgetting about you.

You admit, this stung very much, but the ancient master always said that jealousy was not an emotion we should resort too. You knew he was right, but there were times you couldn't help it. Of course, you would try and talk to Shiryu and spend time with him, but he always cut it very short before walking off, either to train or meditate.

You were nearing the end of your patience. He had been doing this for so long and it was taking its toll on you. You decided to just be happy for your sister despite the sting in your chest and overall just keep to yourself.

You began to avoid them a bit unless necessary. If there were no chores to be done, you would retreat to the forest, either to meditate or you would sometimes bring a book to occupy your time. The more you did this, the better you felt. Your feelings for Shiryu were still there, but at least you didn't have to feel the pain from seeing them together.

What you didn't know was that Shiryu actually had feelings for you, he just didn't know how to tell you, despite how confident he usually was. He hung out with Shunrei so that she could help with his troubles and find out more about what you liked in a guy. Of course, your behavior didn't go unnoticed by the two. Shunrei would try to talk to you about but you would simply tell her it was nothing and you avoided being alone with Shiryu as much as possible. Shiryu had a feeling that something was wrong and he decided to confront you about it and even try to confess to you before it got worse.

Currently, you were in the forest, in a secret clearing you had discovered some time ago. You breathed in the fresh air of the mountains. Your eyes solely focused on the book in your hands. You could feel all of your worries fly away with the wind.

Shiryu had no trouble finding you since he could sense cosmo of another person, wether they were a saint or not. You were so focused on your book that you never noticed him approach you.

"So this is where you run off to," His voice startled you. "It's a lovely spot." He took a seat next to you.

"Um, thank you." You replied shortly before turning your eyes back to your page, only now you couldn't focus on the words. Shiryu caught this and it worried him. Your short replies and distant attitude now were the total opposite of what it was when you were young.

" (Y/n), is something the matter? You've been acting...different lately. Shunrei and I are worried." He asked and tried to reach you. You quickly moved away, closing your book and standing quickly.

"You guys don't need to worry. I'm fine." You forced a smile but he didn't believe it. "Now, I have some chores to do. I'll see you later." Before you could get too far, he grabbed your wrist and pulled you back down. Your book was tossed aside and you found yourself in Shiryu's lap. His stern and full of worry, while your's was starting to turn red. "S-Shiryu, what are you doing?!"

"Please don't lie to me. I know you're not really fine." He said as he held your wrists in his hands. "Please, talk to me."

"Why are you worried about me? You hardly notice me, so what's the big deal?" You said as you held back your tears.

"Because I don't like seeing you like this. You aren't the same happy girl you were when we were kids."

"Yeah, well, people change as they get older." You replied sharply.

"But I miss that girl. I fell in love with her and I still do love her." He said, you froze. You couldn't believe it, you almost didn't want to believe it. It seem too good to be true.

"I think you mean my sister, right?" He chuckled and pulled you closer.

"No, I mean you. The reason I'm with Shunrei so much is because I needed help understanding my feelings for you, and getting my blessing to confess to you." He smiled, happy that he finally said it. "I'm sorry if my actions confused you. Will you allow me the honor of courting you? I know I have a lot to make up for."

You smirked and giggled at the tints of pink beginning to show on his cheeks. "Of course, Shiryu. But, like you said, you have a lot to make up for." You buried your face his chest, a joyful smile never leaving your face.

"I know, and I can't wait." He laughed as he held you closer, not planning on letting you go for as long as he was still alive.
