It was the end of sixth period, and Lucas was walking across the courtyard to his seventh period, laughing with one of his friends and listening to them chatter on, but his heart wasn't in it. His head was focused on the battle that happened earlier, and Ashe.

Who was leaning against the courtyard fence, stare burning a hole in him. He saw her out of the corner of his eye, and didn't actually believe it. Lucas slowed down to get a better look, and sure enough, red eyes, white hair and a cowboy's hat greeted him.

"Lucas?" His friend asked in confusion. "Do you know her?"

"Not yet," He breathed, and shoved his books into her arms before taking off at a run to Ashe. He reached the fence and noticed that though her eyes were smoldering, a gentle smile adorned her face. He knew he should be acting more pissed at her, to account for the rage and hurt and betrayal he'd felt in the past week, but seeing her made him just want crawl in her arms and never move.

Lucas hopped over the fence and she swept him up in a long kiss, strong arms wrapped around his waist, spinning him around by the waist so his head tilted down and his hands cupped her face while she leaned up into him.

She laughed when she set him down, and took his hand to lead him to the gleaming black motorcycle waiting for the two of them.

He sat behind her, and nestled into her back, breathing in the smell of her; leather, spice, and a hint of peppermint. He waved at his friend as the two of them roared away, who stood there mouth gaping.

"You came back," Lucas whispered into her spine, and he felt her voice reply. "Always."
