Disaster.

That is the only word that can describe this place now.

This place,This planet. Once flourished with life. Blessed with the beauty grown by mother nature. Now, a wasteland of nothing but debris of an old rustic ship. Plant less surroundings and water almost completely depleted, leaving only small ponds with barely enough for anyone to drink from. It is all nothing more than a disaster.

How this all happened? Well, no one is quite sure. As to how long it has been since this has started. Too long, to put it simply.

We have lost over half of our island's population, 9 inhabitants remain including myself. Aku and Uka have disappeared, leaving only Apo Apo in their place. This-this apocalypse has changed all of us. There is no more good or evil. There is only survival.

Survival was the only goal we had. The keyword being was. Now, our goal is freedom. Freedom from the pain. Freedom from the fear. Freedom from the suffering.....

Freedom from this Rustland.

A couple of months ago, we made a plan. This plan involved making a device. One that had the ability to ultimately destroy anything within a 700 mile radius. Leaving nothing, not even a vessel to signify a being's existence. The device was ready, all we had to do was wait for the right moment to activate it. We wanted to make sure that everyone was together  before we sealed our fate. If we were going down, we were going down right by each other's sides.

I returned back to where we decided was best to set off our device. I took off my goggles so, I could have a better look at everyone. N.gin was helping to support a limping Cortex, who has taken off his hazard mask and helmet so he could speak more clearly with the soon to be former survivors. Dingodile was sitting on a rock holding on to his upgraded flamethrower, he made it clear that if he was to leave this world he would do so with his flamethrower in hand. Tiny was sitting on the ground with his knees to his chest. He looked like he was trying and failing not to cry as he lifted his mask up to wipe away the tears that were threatening to fall from his face. Pura and polar were on both of his sides comforting him which seemed to work a little.

I gave a sad smile at those who I used to fight against. Oh, I still have the memories of the old days, days before all this chaos happened. I was quickly broken from my thoughts when my oldest friend came up to say something to me. A tear in her eye about to roll down her face and ruin her mascara.

"I still can't believe it's almost over." Nina spoke trying to hide the sadness in her tone. But I know her too well and I can sense the fear that she has right now and I honestly could not blame her. Though, it killed me inside to see her like this and I refuse to let her suffer anymore than she already has. She did not deserve it. Not my nina.

I cupped her cheek into my hand and wiped the tear away with my thumb. I looked her straight into her blue orbs as she stared back into my green ones and I gave her a reassuring smile. She sniffled but returned my smile.

Suddenly, Apo floated to my side also looking at nina giving her the most sincerest look he could give. The one part of Apo I knew would always comfort a frightened child. As for the other part, I knew that he cared for nina just as much as I did.

Soon another voice came in. However, what the voice said made me frown as I was brought back into reality.

"Big brother, it's time." Coco said with a sad sigh. I turned my attention towards her and then looked behind her to see the device planted into the ground with a button on top. All I need to do now is press the button and it will done.

I slowly walked to the device and stared at it. This was it. The beginning of the end. Our time in this place was finally going to end. Our freedom was a simple button push away. Salvation has come for us at last.

I lifted my hand and hovered it above the button. But before I decided to make another move, I looked back at my allies. Some of them had the looks of hope, some had the looks of determination. It was no doubt that we were scared about what was about to happen but we knew it was for the best, for all of us.

Cortex and N.gin nodded both of their heads. Dingodile, with a small smile, nodded his head. Tiny stood up with pura in his arms and polar on his shoulder, all three gave a nod. Coco had her hands on Nina's shoulders, while nina was hugging herself and they nodded. Apo then floated closer to me leaving a good three feet gap between us.

"Set us free, crash." Apo spoke for the first time. I have never heard him speak before as he preferred to stay quiet. After hearing his voice, I knew that he was ready for the upcoming fate. Both of them were ready.

I gave everyone a hopeful smile with a strong look of determination in my eyes and nodded at them. I then turned my attention back to the button. I closed my eyes took a deep breath and as I slammed my hand down on the button, one final thought went through my mind.

'The apocalypse ends now.'

"Ahhhhh!" Aku screamed as he woke from his slumber. He 'breathed' in and out as his eyes quickly scanned his surroundings. He was still in the home that Crash, Coco, and himself have made on wumpa island.

He levitated himself up and went to both of his children's rooms to check on them. Coco was still snuggled up in her blanket with a small smile on her face. While crash, who moved from laying on his back to laying on his side, subconsciously pulled his blanket over him. Humming calmly with a cute smile on his face and his tongue sticking out of the side of his mouth.

Aku let out a content sigh with a relaxed smile on his wooden features. He then floated back to the spot where he was previously laying and said silently to himself.

"It was just a nightmare."
