What a dinner, part I .
Kehlani laughed and patted Lauren's knee. "I'm sure you didn't look like a hoe."
Flavio grinned. "No matter what she looked like, it was an improvement from what she looked like before, I'll say that much."
Everyone at the table snickered and Lauren pouted, biting into her turkey.
Noah grinned. "It was all for nothing anyway. He did turn out to be gay."
Lauren shook her head. "I can't believe I dated him for a year."
Noah laughed. "You tend to attract idiots, boo."
Flavios eyes lit up, "Oh. So, that must be why the whole school thought you and Lo were dating, saweetie."
Cyn snickered and Noah actually blushed. Lauren raised her eyebrow and she shook her head. "People did not think that we were dating, bitch."
Flavio stared at her in shock. "Yes they did! You two were so close, and most people didn't understand why. We were at the bottom of the food chain."
Lauren waved her hand and took a sip of her own water. "Oh please, Noah and I have been friends for years."
Noah grinned at her, nodding. "Right. We met at temple when we were young...I haven't been able to get rid of her since."
Lauren threw a piece of bread at him. "Shut up."
Flavio smiled. "Regardless, people just assumed that there was something romantic going on between you two, since he was always trying to fight everyone who threw a compliment at you."
Lauren laughed, reaching across the table to place her hand on top of Noah's. "Baby , it's alright. You did your best to protect me, but it's high school. That's the way things worked...You could have been a little less overbearing, I think."
Lauren smiled graciously at him and blushed. Meanwhile, Kehlani smiled to herself, almost a little envious at all the support her lover clearly had around her, both in high school and now. It was beautiful.
Sensing the tension, Cyn cleared her throat and clapped her hands together.
"Lauren I want to hear all about the callback you got!"
Noah stood up, empty glass and bottle in his hand. "I'll go get more wine."
Lauren stared up confusedly at the way he seemed to get up abruptly, before turning to the table and smiling excitedly. "Oh it's so exciting. After I didn't get the callback for that revival I auditioned for, Nevaeh thought that it was smart for us to look for something fresher, a new musical. She then found out that they were developing a musical adaptation of her favorite show, and Nevaeh thought that it would be perfect for me!"
