"Okay," my father said as we walked to her car. "Be good, have fun, study hard and knock them dead,"

I smiled. "I will,"

He hugged me tightly and I did the same.

My father gave me a kiss on the cheek. "I don't know when it happen, but my little girl grew up to be a beautiful woman,"

I smiled. "I'll always be your little girl,"

He gave me another hug.

"Bye dad,"

"Good bye, Leah,"

We pulled away and I watched my father get into his car and drive away.

I made my way back to my dorm.

After years of being in an all girl private school I've been thrown into a university six hours away from home and filled with boys.

I had a lot to get used to.

My roommate, Aubrey, was getting her bed ready when I walked in.

"Hey girl," she said.

"Hi,"

"Want to get some food or something?" she asked.

"Sure, why not?"

Aubrey got her bag and slipped on her shoes then we left the campus.

We walked down the street to the near by pizzeria.

"What do you want?" I asked.

She shrugged. "Anything but cheese,"

"How about cheese and spinach?" I asked smiling.

"Sounds good,"

"Hi, I'm Joy, I'll be your server, what can I get you?"

"Two waters and one large cheese spinach pizza," Aubrey said.

"Coming up," Joy smiled.

We smiled back as she walked away.

"So," I said. "Ready for school,"

"Heck yeah! I'm so excited to learn about something I actually want to learn about,"

I laughed. "What are you majoring?"

"Art,"

"Nice,"

"Thanks, you?"

"Same, but I want to teach it,"

"Spicy,"

I laughed. "Thanks," I said as our water came.

Aubrey and I chatted some more and we seemed to have really hit it off.

Our pizza came and we did more eating then talking.

A group of boys walked in and sat in front of us, or behind me.

"Hey! Cute guys are behind you,"

I turned around and one of them smiled at me.

I rolled my eyes and looked forward again.

"He smiled at you," Aubrey said.

"I know," I muttered.

"What?"

"I don't date,"

"Why?"

"I'm not a big fan or heart break. I watched me parents go through it and I'm not going to be apart of it,"

"Oh, wow, I'm sorry,"

"It's okay. My dad seems to be better and so is my mom,"

"So did you just hide from boys all your life?"

"Yeah, pretty much,"

"Excuse," a deep voice said from be hide me.

I turned around and the guys were looking at me.

"Yes?" I asked.

"My friend, Pierce, wants to give you his number," the guys said handing me a napkin.

The guy, who I'm guessing is Pierce smiled at me.

I rolled my eyes. "I'm not interested,"

Pierce looked a little shocked and hurt.

Poor baby.

"Come on," he pushed.

"Nope. I think we should go," I said getting up.

Audrey followed me.

"Wait," he said. "Can I at least get your name,"

"Leah," I said and walked out of the pizzeria.

"He was cute!" Aubrey said once we were out side.

"I don't care. I don't date and I never will. I saw too many people get hurt. There will be no exception,"

"Okay," Aubrey said.

No exception, I repeated to myself.
