It's the rustle of petals in his lungs, the sight of the roses fluttering over the scratches in his arms, the ever-present floral perfume tainting every breath, that have him so on-edge, but it's the flippant turn of Jotaro's head that sends Hierophant flying unbidden at his throat.
There's no real intent behind it. Hierophant means to cut, perhaps, to slice through the first layer of skin and leave a bleeding line before Star Platinum catches it.
Kakyoin is annoyed and lashing out and looking for a fight with an opponent he knows to respect. And he deserves it, doesn't he? He's been through enough. He's been hypnotized and blinded and tormented, not even his dreams safe from the war, and now everyone is decorated in roses except for Kakyoin who is dry-drowning in saccharine nectar full of good intentions and cloying cloying cloying l-
He is expecting to share a little pain before Star Platinum does what Star Platinum can be relied upon to do, and halts Kakyoin's Stand mid-strike. Kakyoin is not expecting to find himself suffocating anew in a tangle of white roses - thorns barely a prickle, petals menacing and sweet - before Hierophant can land the blow.
and Hierophant-vicious-insatiable-uncontrollable-Hierophant-Green balks for the second time in Kakyoin's short life.
Two rooms away, Holly Kujo slumps to the floor.
