After that fiasco in Route 1 and arriving in Viridian City, the two head to the Pokemon Center to heal their pokemon. That and it was lunch time, so they decided to take a break.
Red was really happy they were getting lunch. He was starving and he's never been inside of a Pokemon Center before. "Hello and welcome to the Viridian City Pokemon Center." The nurse said sweetly.
"Me and my friend would like our pokemon healed." Green said.
"Of course, please hand me your pokeballs."
Green and Red proceeded to hand the nurse their pokeballs and waited for them to heal, Red wandering around the building, mainly to make himself a little more used to Pokemon Centers.
Green noticed the nurses confused look at Red. "My friend has Autism. He likes to be more familiar with buildings by wandering around." Green explained, the nurse was understanding and allowed Red's wandering. It doesn't seem to be the first time something like this has happened. "I have a friend who has an autistic child. She's the same way when wandering around areas to get more familiar." The nurse said kindly.
Green felt relieved that the nurse understood. Normally, Green was distant and cold towards others, but when Red was around, well, it just warms his heart. It didn't take too long for their pokemon to be healed and they went to the cafeteria for a bite to eat. While they're eating, some other customers are looking at the two weirdly, while some others are looking at Red with disgust.
"Hey loser!" One of them barked at Red, startling him.
"What do you want?" Green asked with a glare.
"Not you, him! The weirdo that was wandering around the center." He retorted loudly, Red flinching from him, remembering the cruelty his mother put him through, always nitpicking every little thing and putting him down.
(Flashback)
Red was coloring in a coloring book at the table while Poli was outside training, his mother burst in and slaps Red for not cleaning his room, even though the only thing he had to do left was sort his books with only two on the floor.
(End of flashback)
The memory and this guy harassing Red was getting to him and Green makes the guy get lost.
"And stay away from him you jerk!" Green yelled at the bully, he then hugged Red gently as he softly cries.
"Red, everything is gonna be okay."
After a while, they headed to the Viridian City Gym and sees Professor Oak there being attacked by a Rhydon, Red letting Poli and Saur out to protect the professor and Green making sure it got out.
"Thank you boys." Professor Oak thanked with some pants in his breathing.
Green explained their theory about their powers being connected by their shiny pokemon and he agreed to test them. After a while, it was confirmed that their powers are indeed a very rare side effect.
"You boys should be very careful. Many people might want to hurt or take you and your pokemon." The good professor warned.
"Don't worry Grandpa, I'll protect Red and our pokemon." Green whispers, having a glance at Red.
"Aww, my grandson growing up so fast. I'm glad you two get along. You're usually so cold towards a lot of people and you trust Red?"
Green looked serious, but gives his grandfather a smirk. "Red is smart Gramps. A lot smarter than people give him credit for. All I want is for him to be happy."
"I understand. And you think traveling with him will help?" Oak asks and Green answers with
"Of course. I want to get stronger, bit I want Red to get stronger as well. Might as well."End of Chapter Six
