Sirens

I heard an ambulance the other night. Of course its not the first time that wailing noise has greeted me, but that night it rained. It made me think about what could've happened. I pictured a burning building with children screaming until their last breath. I see fire fighters risking their lives to try and save the children that are already dead. The mothers crying hysterically and the fathers grieving that everything is lost. Every dime, every splinter of wood, lost to the angry flames that now possess the home that was created for their hearts desire. The happy memories of nights where the children stayed up for "one more story" or the laughs and giggles that squeezed at their lungs. I pictured the neighbors rushing out in horror and comforting the parents saying,"They will be ok," when really they know. They know that there is no hope. My imagination goes wild when things like that happen. Either another life lost, added, or altered. I may just think too much but, what if it was me... What if it was you?

*a/n: thank you to every person that risks their lives for us. I salute with the up most gratitude.*
*a/n 2.0: my sister heard a siren go off and she was like, "Oh no! A tree fell down!" We haven't let that down since.*
