Adelaine’s POV

“Wake up Adelaine. You gotta get ready for school sweetie.” I can hear my mom’s voice trying to shake me awake.

“Just a few more years please.” I cover my face. I hear my mom laugh and shut the door.

Did she seriously just let me be? That seems so real.

I jolt out of bed and take a quick shower. “I see someone is awake. Ready to go back to school after a long Spring Break?” My dad walks past me as I leave the bathroom.

“Not really. I mean, I do get tired of people faking to like me and trying to get on my good side.” I say in a monotone as I walk inside my bedroom.

“What to wear? What to wear?” I repeat to myself as I look through my hanged clothes.

Oh yeah. My ugly uniform.

I quickly put my white button down shirt on, followed by my maroon and navy blue colored plaid skirt. I looked hurriedly around my room for my white knee length socks. As soon as I found them I put them on and slid my black flats on. “Mom have you seen my tie!?” I shout.

“It should be in your closet! And don’t forget your cardigan this time! I don’t want your dean calling me again; telling me that you’re out of dress code!”

I put my cross tie on and run to the laundry room. I pull my cardigan out of the dryer and put it on.

“Don’t forget your back pack Adelaine! I hope you didn’t wait until the last minute to do your homework!” My mom shouts as I am about to leave the house.

“I have my backpack and I don’t think I had any homework – shit.” I forgot we had a project to do over on how our spring break was. We were supposed to take pictures and document every day of the week.

“What did you just say?” My mom walked over to be by the door. “N-n- nothing. I was just forgetting that I didn’t have gas in my car.” I lied.

“Well that’s okay. Anne called me this morning and said that if you wanted, Harry could give you and Gemma a ride.” She smiled.

“Okay. Yep. That’s great. Bye. Love you.” I mentally punched myself for coming up with a lie like that. I guess this is another step towards friendship?

I walked outside to find Gemma and Harry already getting in the car. “Hey. I need a ride.” I walk up to them.

“Get in.” Harry smiles and nods his head back; gesturing for me to get inside. I can’t help but to smile back.

“Gemma you didn’t do your project did you?” I ask as we pull out of their driveway. “We had a project?!” She panics.
