I ran around a corner that leads to the pantry and basement. If I hid in the pantry Virgil will never find me! I laughed to myself and snuck into the small closet like area. I hid there for awhile until I heard mom call for me. I pouted and walked over to her in the living room.
"We're going for a car trip" she said angry, probably because I wasn't here faster. They do that a lot. Get mad at me and Virgil for little things. Sometimes dad hits us but that's only when we're really bad. She hands me a bag she already packed and walked out the door.
"Wait, is Virgil coming?" I asked with my slight lisp. She glared at me.
"He isn't coming, he broke the rules" she grabbed a bigger bag and slammed the door on her way out. I decided before I left with mom and dad to leave some food out for him. He can cook it's just that he doesn't know what he's aloud to. I left some pasta out and some sauce for it. I quickly grabbed the bag I was given and ran to follow mom.
Little did I know that would've been my worst mistake. My eyes darted around the dark room before I fell into another one my my memories.
"Come on!" I yelled. I saw little Virgil run around the corner and hide. I laughed at him. "Wimp" I said still laughing quietly. He glared at me.
"Shut up we're gonna get caught" I sighed and nodded. We were trying to steal, sorry borrow, our neighbors ladder. We're using this ladder for the tree house. I stuck my head around the corner and saw the outline of the ladder. It's dark out because it's right before sunrise. I make a dash for it and hide on the side of the shed.
"Virgil hur-"
"Answer when I talk to you Deceit!" I snap my eyes to the man in front of me.
"I-I'm sorry sir! I didn't realize you came in!" I stutter out. Now is definitely not a time for memory lane! I felt a stinging pain in my cheek. He just slapped me again.
"What did I say about that dammed stutter" he growled. Well I pissed him off.
"Right, sorry sir" I said quietly.
"I was giving you the choice but now I don't think you should have it" he said walking away. I started to say what ever came to mind.
"No! Please sir! Let me prove myself! You saved me! I need to pay it back please!" I started to panic I can't be left here again. He hummed, thinking on it.
"You have a point, I'm sorry Deceit, I shouldn't have locked you up down here for such a small mistake" he sighed. I hate it when this happens, I mean yeah he's nice and all but it only lasts for so long. He's so weird. His attitude changes so fast. "Here you go," he said unlocking me for the chair. "I'm sorry Deceit, lets get you some food and new clothes" he sighed. He walked to the door, and stepped out waiting for me to follow suit. I slowly went after him, feeling my bare feet softly padding their way across the floor. He smiled at me, leading me to the room he gave me when I first came here. We walked in and he handed me some clothes. "You know I love you right?" He asked softly. I nodded back softer than ever. I knew he didn't but I knew he liked it when I just stayed silent and just nodded.
First chapter! Just know that when the man said love you he meant like father son type of thing.
