"The study of the history of life on Earth is known as paleontology. We are going to discuss-" the sirs keep explaining about fossils which is really boring now.
I almost fell asleep in geography class but Kyler kept me awake by pinching me and kicking my foot.
We were supposed to go to his house for discussing about the project today. He said he will send me his location.
"Hey Bethany, do you want to discuss about the project at my house, Starbucks, or the nearby park?" Kyler asks me.
"Hm... Maybe nearby park?" I say because I don't want to be in the same room as him yet.
Am just shy okay?
We end up going to the park. It was actually a nice place for picnic. But we don't have any food with us, only our books so it's not picnic, just studying hang out.
"So what do you know about fossils Beth?" Kyle questions me.
"They are the remains of dead animals?" I answer sounding very confused.
"You are in grade 10th and you don't know what fossils are? Really beth?"
"The remains or impression of a prehistoric plant or animal embedded in rock and preserved in pretrified form.
And that Beth, is fossils" Kyle explains.
"Well, i actually don't care. We could have done Google search anyway." I try to sound irritated.
"Why do you sound irritated? Am I bothering you? We need to discuss about this project whether you like it or not Bethany." Kyle says strictly.
"Fine Kyler. Let's continue." I say. Nerd.
We continue with our fossils discussion.
After about half an hour Kyler suddenly asks
"Bethany, can I ask you something if you don't mind?"
"Go on." I say.
"You remember that day in Starbucks when i asked you what your favourite colour is, you just ran away. Why?" Kyler asks very gently.
Oh my God. What do i answer?
Am freaking out on the inside.
I just want to escape from here.
Can I run? Oh God this is so not good.
Calm down Bethany. I can handle it. It's a very simple question. It's just Kyler.
"Oh... That... I was.. umm.. not feeling well... I had flu.... Yeah.. flu... So i had to go home.." i shutter alot.
"There is no use of lying to me Beth. I'll find it one way or another. I know something is going on with you. You ain't the normal teenage girl everyone thinks you are. So please Beth, don't ever lie to me. You might need time to open up to me. Take your time." Kyler says.
He gets up and picks his books and his bag. He then keeps walking and goes away.
Kyler just left me alone in the park and it's Dawn now.
Kyler left me because I lied to him? How did he even knew I lied to him?
I felt very confused as I walked home alone.
I call Trish to tell her everything that happened today. She's gonna freak out for sure.
We talk for 15 mins and by that time I reach home.
I walk in and I see someone watching TV.
Mother? At this time?
"Mommy? Is that you?" I yell.
No answer.
What's going on? Why isn't mom saying anything?
I take my base ball bat and slowly approach the person sitting on the sofa watching TV. That's definitely not mom for sure.
As I was about to hit whoever it is i hear a light whisper.
"Bethany is that you?"
