I felt a gentle hand brush my hair and the soft voice of an elderly lady singing,

"Dub dub jave dil mera

(My heart sinks deeply)

jadon yaad sajjan di aave

(whenever I think of my beloved)

Door vasende mahi mere kolon, ja ke mod leya ve

(The distance between me and my beloved, the wish to bring us together)

Dil da jani kol na mere, naal kede main bolan

(Who do I share my feelings with when he's not with me)
Ohde varga koi na mainu, kis naal dil dian kholan

(I cannot find anyone like him, who do I share my heart with?)
Tarle le le aakhan koi paish meri na jaave"

(I beg him to return but he doesn't listen)

She finishes the song and wipes my tears off of my cheeks.

I open my eyes and see her staring at me with compassion.

She is an elderly woman with white hair and a round face, she looks like an angel that has come to save me.

"Am I dreaming?" I whisper to her,

She laughs and pats my cheek,

"No darling, unfortunetly this is your reality." She said with a sudden frown appearing on her face.

Realization hits me to what I experienced and as I remember everything flash back at me, my body reacts and I feel the physical pain of my hair being pulled and being drowned by Yasmine.

I touch my forehead and feel a white wrapping around it.

"My child it will be okay," She starts to say but I cut her off and push her away and hide deeper under my blanket.

"LEAVE ME ALONE. JUST GO." I scream at her crying into my pillow.

"I will be your protector in this home, you are like a daughter to me." She says trying to reassure me.

I stare at the wall, laying on my side, my back to her.

"You must be strong Bano, this family with eat you alive if you act like this, I have seen generations of women come and go from this house, they were women just like you, beautiful but weak, unable to look within themselves and find their own strength." She said picking up her prayer beads and getting up from her chair.

"I am not like those Women, my worth in this house if of a Baby Machine for that disgusting vile BAS-", before I could finish my loud sentence I heard the door burst open and the man who ruined my life strode through.

We just stared at each other and if we were fighting each other in our heads and I was losing as I always do.

"Mr.Shah." I said breaking our eye contact.

"Bano." He said staring at my forehead.

"Maasi how is she feeling?" He asked the elderly lady.

So, this lady was their family's nanny/caretaker. No wonder she was being nice to me, her job would be to take care of his kids, not mine because I would never have a kid with him.

"Bano, why do you look like your fighting with yourself" He said looking freaked out.

"I am fighting my urge to beat you up and your side chick" I said laughing at the end.

"Maasi can you leave the room, I need to talk to Bano privately." He said angrily.

"No she will stay here with me!" I screamed getting up from my bed running after Maasi but she ran out of the room and locked the door from the other side. I started to bang on the door,
